  • Publication number: 20170107829
Abstract: An airfoil comprises one or more internal cooling circuits. The cooling circuits can be fed with a flow of cooling fluid from one or more cooling air inlet passages in fluid communication with the cooling circuits. The cooling circuits can further comprise a leading edge cooling circuit defined by a supply passage, a pin bank passage divided into one or more sub-circuits by pin banks disposed within the pin bank passage, and at least first and second cooling passages. • Publication number: 20170098973
Abstract: The disclosure relates to printed circuit board motors and specifically to printed circuit boards used in motors and generators. Windings formed from copper on printed circuit boards have been used for purposes of forming antennas, inductors, transformers, and stators that can be incorporated in permanent magnet brushless DC (permanent magnet synchronous) machines. For energy conversion devices using modern permanent magnet materials and PCB stators, the magnetic field is not strongly confined by magnetically susceptible materials. Thus, the interaction between fields from adjacent turns in a winding, and/or windings on adjacent layers (for a multilayer configuration) may be significant. The structures disclosed hereinafter reduce the effective resistance in the windings, and therefore reduce the associated losses to achieve a reduced current density in portions of the rotating energy conversion devices.

  • Publication number: 20170098985
Abstract: An apparatus for forming a magnet assembly may comprise a base, a bearing assembly, and a support structure positioning mechanism. The bearing assembly may be configured to support a magnet and to allow the magnet to rotate about an axis normal to a surface of the base. The support structure positioning mechanism may be configured to position a support structure on the magnet when the magnet is on the base. The base may comprise at least one magnet alignment feature that causes the magnet to rotate about the axis to a preferred angular orientation corresponding to a lower energy configuration as a function of angle about the axis as the magnet moves closer to the base. The bearing assembly may be movable along the axis to allow the magnet to be moved closer to the base and cause the magnet to achieve the preferred angular orientation.

  • Publication number: 20170075741
Abstract: A method of prioritizing data for recovery in a distributed storage system includes, for each stripe of a file having chunks, determining whether the stripe comprises high-availability chunks or low-availability chunks and determining an effective redundancy value for each stripe. The effective redundancy value is based on the chunks and any system domains associated with the corresponding stripe. The distributed storage system has a system hierarchy including system domains. Chunks of a stripe associated with a system domain in an active state are accessible, whereas chunks of a stripe associated with a system domain in an inactive state are inaccessible. The method also includes reconstructing substantially immediately inaccessible, high-availability chunks having an effective redundancy value less than a threshold effective redundancy value and reconstructing the inaccessible low-availability and other inaccessible high-availability chunks, after a threshold period of time.

  • Publication number: 20170075753
Abstract: A method of distributing data in a distributed storage system includes receiving a file and dividing the received file into chunks. The chunks are data-chunks and non-data chunks. The method further includes grouping chunks into a group and determining a distribution of the chunks of the group among storage devices of the distributed storage system based on a maintenance hierarchy of the distributed storage system. The maintenance hierarchy includes hierarchical maintenance levels and maintenance domains. Each maintenance domain has an active state or an inactive state; and each storage device is associated with at least one maintenance domain. The method also includes distributing the chunks of the group to the storage devices based on the determined distribution. The chunks of the group are distributed across multiple maintenance domains to maintain an ability to reconstruct chunks of the group when a maintenance domain is in the inactive state.

  • Patent number: 9596264
Abstract: Provided herein are systems and methods for targeted attack protection using predictive sandboxing. In exemplary embodiments, a method includes retrieving a URL from a message of a user and performing a preliminary determination to see if the URL can be discarded if it is not a candidate for sandboxing. The exemplary method includes computing a plurality of selection criteria factors for the URL if the URL passes the preliminary determination, each selection criteria factor having a respective factor threshold. The method can further include determining if any of the selection criteria factors for the URL exceeds the respective factor threshold for the respective selection criteria factor. Based on the determining, if any of the selection criteria factors exceeds the factor threshold for the selection criteria factor, the exemplary method automatically processes the URL using a sandbox.

  • Patent number: 9562364
Abstract: A method of texturing a wall or ceiling with non-acoustical joint compound by providing a collapsible bag having an opening at its top and is adapted to contain non-acoustical joint compound for forming a textured coating on the wall or ceiling and providing a spray nozzle having a low pressure input port, a joint compound suction port attached to the opening at the top of the collapsible bag, and an output port for spraying the non-acoustical joint compound. A low pressure stream of air from an air gun attached to the low pressure input port urges a small quantity of the non-acoustical joint compound to be sprayed out of the spray nozzle when the bottom of the collapsible disposable bag is raised above its top to either allow or force the joint compound to flow into the suction port and into the interior of the spray nozzle.
