  • Publication number: 20160346855
Abstract: A method for electroerosion machining includes providing an electrode assembly comprising an electrode body having a tube-shaped body that defines a hollow interior and one or more inserts affixed to the electrode body to form a cutting surface on the electrode assembly, positioning the electrode assembly adjacent a workpiece to be machined, and providing power to the electrode assembly so as to energize the electrode assembly, with the electrode assembly and the workpiece being at opposite electrical polarities. The method also includes advancing the electrode assembly through the workpiece, with a working gap being maintained between the inserts and the workpiece across which a pulse electric current is passed to remove material from the workpiece, wherein, upon advancing the electrode assembly through the workpiece, a core is formed that is completely separated from a remainder of the workpiece and is contained within the hollow interior of the electrode body.

  • Publication number: 20160334971
Abstract: A system having a processor is provided that visually manipulates objects on a touch screen responsive to inputs through the touch screen. The processor may be responsive to first motion inputs received through an input device to: move a selected first object on a workspace relative to an unselected and unconnected second object on the workspace displayed through a display device while maintaining a size, shape, and orientation of the first object; determine a connection between the selected first object and the unselected second object; and snap the selected first object to a connection position on the workspace such that the first and second objects display a preview of the connection. The processor may form the connection responsive to completion of the first motion inputs.

  • Publication number: 20160328117
Abstract: A system having a processor is provided that visually manipulates objects on a touch screen responsive to inputs through the touch screen. Based at least in part on data representative of type and size for a plurality of prior objects displayed through a display device, the processor may determine that at least one input through the input device corresponds to a further object having a determined type corresponding to at least one of the prior objects and having a size within predetermined tolerances of corresponding to the at least one of the prior objects. Also the processor may cause responsive thereto the display device to display a replacement object in place of the further object having a size and shape corresponding to the at least one prior object.

  • Publication number: 20160328126
Abstract: A system having a processor is provided that visually manipulates objects on a touch screen responsive to inputs through the touch screen. The processor may receive a selection of a first object while a second object remains unselected. Also the processor may be responsive to first motion inputs representative of the selected first object being moved with a first motion that does not have a predetermined motion characteristic, to maintain a connection between the first and second objects while changing the positions of the first object and at least a first portion of the second object. In addition, the processor may be responsive to second motion inputs representative of the selected first object being moved with a second motion that has the predetermined motion characteristic, to break the connection between the first and second objects.

  • Patent number: 9475720
Abstract: Hydrogen may permeate into an interior space of an article in response to molten glass being in contact with the outer surface of the article. The permeation may be restricted by having a fluid in a length of the interior space. The fluid may be in contact with the inner surface of the article, the fluid may fill at least about 33% of the volume of the length of the interior space, and the fluid may provide a predetermined partial pressure of hydrogen. Features may be provided for causing the fluid to flow within the interior space.

  • Publication number: 20160299815
Abstract: A method of distributing data in a distributed storage system includes receiving a file, dividing the received file into chunks, and determining a distribution of the chunks among storage devices of the distributed storage system based on a maintenance hierarchy of the distributed storage system. The maintenance hierarchy includes maintenance levels, and each maintenance level includes one or more maintenance units. Each maintenance unit has an active state and an inactive state. Moreover, each storage device is associated with a maintenance unit. The determining of the distribution of the chunks includes identifying a random selection of the storage devices matching a number of chunks of the file and being capable of maintaining accessibility of the file when one or more maintenance units are in an inactive state. The method also includes distributing the chunks to storage devices of the distributed storage system according to the determined distribution.

  • Publication number: 20160298267
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling a composite fabric having internal axial tows includes a support member configured to engage the fabric substantially up to a composite component form. The support member includes a nonslip portion directly engaging a first outer surface of the fabric. The apparatus further includes a primary securing member engaging and applying pressure on the fabric at a second outer surface of the fabric opposite the first outer surface. Upon displacement of the axial tows of the fabric relative to the first and second outer surfaces, the support member and the primary securing member substantially maintain original configurations of the first and second outer surfaces of the fabric engaged between the support member and the primary securing member.

  • Publication number: 20160250505
Abstract: A passive fire suppression system including at least one tapered cellular glass block and having a cap with a tapered shape disposed on the top of the at least one cellular glass block. The passive fire suppression system allows drainage from the upper surface to the bottom of the system. The drainage is beneficial for both environmental conditions such as rain as well as for incidents where combustible liquids are spilled on the top surface of the system. Therefore, the system will not only shield any combustible materials that are under the system but will also quickly drain any combustible liquids that may spill onto the top of the system to the lower surface.

  • Publication number: 20160179621
Abstract: A method of prioritizing data for recovery in a distributed storage system includes, for each stripe of a file having chunks, determining whether the stripe comprises high-availability chunks or low-availability chunks and determining an effective redundancy value for each stripe. The effective redundancy value is based on the chunks and any system domains associated with the corresponding stripe. The distributed storage system has a system hierarchy including system domains. Chunks of a stripe associated with a system domain in an active state are accessible, whereas chunks of a stripe associated with a system domain in an inactive state are inaccessible. The method also includes reconstructing substantially immediately inaccessible, high-availability chunks having an effective redundancy value less than a threshold effective redundancy value and reconstructing the inaccessible low-availability and other inaccessible high-availability chunks, after a threshold period of time.
