  • Patent number: 9127987
Abstract: Described herein are a channel, system and method for monitoring voltages. Typically, the system includes multiple channels, each for sampling one of the voltages. The channels are physically and electrically coupled to a back end board on which is mounted a field programmable gate array (FPGA) that instructs the channels to simultaneously sample the voltages. Optionally, the channel is powered using an power supply that is isolated from the back end board, and transmits information over an electrically isolated connection to the back end board. The channel also includes voltage signal processing circuitry for processing the voltage signal on board the channel, and has stored on it channel identification information composed of at least one of an operating mode of the channel and a serial number of the channel, which can assist with voltage signal processing.

  • Publication number: 20150234284
Abstract: Methods for producing retroreflector tooling and retroreflective sheeting using laser writing techniques, and corresponding products thereof, are presented. In one embodiment, a seamless retroreflective sheet having a plurality of retroreflectors formed in a continuous retroreflective microstructured pattern is provided. In the methods described herein, a substrate having a photosensitive coating on a surface thereof is provided. A surface-relief microstructured pattern is produced in the photosensitive coating by selectively exposing the photosensitive coating to a beam of electromagnetic radiation. The exposed portions of the photosensitive coating are developed to form a retroreflective microstructured pattern on the surface of the substrate. The retroreflective microstructured pattern is then transferred into retroreflector tooling comprising the retroreflective microstructured pattern on a surface thereof.

  • Patent number: 8989222
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for generating Generic Mapping Procedure (GMP) stuff/data decisions, which avoids brute force modulo arithmetic and is efficient for hitless adjustment of ODUFIex (G.7044) in an Optical Transport Network (OTN). Addition operations are used, rather than multiplication operations, to facilitate faster and less computationally expensive calculation of data/stuff decisions, based on calculated residue values. Residue values are logically arranged in rows to facilitate residue calculation, such as based on relationships with previously calculated residue values. This method is also applicable for mapping and de-mapping Constant Bit Rate (CBR) clients into and from an ODUk carrier.

  • Publication number: 20150009576
Abstract: A system, apparatus, and method may provide laser beams of two or more wavelengths from diode pumped solid-state laser sources (220, 222, 224). The beam paths of these laser beams with different wavelengths, which are generated by the laser sources (220, 222, 224), may be aligned along a common optical axis 280 by an optical configuration, to treat at least one target area. Frequency-doubled laser beams, output from a plurality of diode pumped solid state laser cavities, may be passed through fold mirrors (M2, M5, M8), and combined on a common optical axis 280, using one or more combiner mirrors (M10, M11, M12), to unify the beam paths. Selected laser beams may be delivered to a target using one or more delivery systems.

  • Publication number: 20140374119
Abstract: A hydraulic anchor is coupled to a packer subassembly of a tool string. The hydraulic anchor, when actuated by fluid pressure, engages the surrounding wellbore, holding the tool string in place within the wellbore. A packer may then be actuated, held in position within the wellbore by the hydraulic anchor. In some embodiments, an inflatable packer may be held in the desired location by the hydraulic anchor. In some embodiments, a straddle packer assembly may be held in place by the hydraulic anchor. In some embodiments, a swellable packer may be held in place during the swelling process by the hydraulic anchor.

  • Patent number: 8895255
Abstract: The present invention relates to moving microorganisms to a surface, where they are grown in the presence and absence of antimicrobials, and by monitoring the growth of the microorganisms over time in the two conditions, their susceptibility to the antimicrobials can be determined. The microorganisms can be moved to the surface through electrophoresis, centrifugation or filtration. When the movement involves electrophoresis, the presence of oxidizing and reducing reagents lowers the voltage at which electrophoretic force can be generated and allows a broader range of means by which the target can be detected. Monitoring can comprise optical detection, and most conveniently includes the detection of individual microorganisms. The microorganisms can be stained in order to give information about their response to antimicrobials.

  • Patent number: 8854963
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for controlling elements in a signal path of a communication network to accommodate changes in the rate of a client signal. In particular, during the bandwidth resizing (BWR) portion of ITU-T Recommendation G.7044 Hitless Adjustment of ODUflex(GFP) protocol (HAO), the nodes in the chain along the ODUflex(GFP) signal path change their output rates in parallel such that FIFO over/underflow is avoided in the nodes. Certain embodiments provide mechanisms to synchronize and stabilize the nodes in a verifiable manner.
