  • Patent number: 10185675
Abstract: Peripheral devices may implement multiple reporting modes for signal interrupts to a host system. Different reporting modes may be determined for interrupts generated at a host system. Reporting modes may be programmatically configured for various operations at the peripheral device. Reporting modes may indicate a reporting technique for transmitting an indication of the interrupt and may indicate a priority assigned to reporting the interrupt. An interrupt controller for the peripheral device may report generated interrupts according to the reporting mode determined for the interrupts.

  • Patent number: 10147070
Abstract: Embodiments herein describe a configurable lighting system that can be used to redefine the size of the storage areas holding items. When changing the dimensions of the storage areas, an associate may also want to change the assignment of lights disposed near the storage areas. To do so, the configurable lighting system includes a series of lights disposed along a first axis and a set of confirmation devices corresponding to the series of lights. The lighting system can receiving first and second input signals from the set of confirmation devices and identify a first subset of the series of lights corresponding to the first input signal and a second subset of the series of lights corresponding to the second input signal. The first and second subsets can define respective lengths of first and second storage areas when illuminated.

  • Publication number: 20180284098
Abstract: Ligand-ion channel interactions are analyzed via electrophysiological methods having rapid temporal response and high sensitivity, thereby reducing the collection time and enabling monitoring of dynamic processes. This protocol allows quantification of ligand concentrations in the sub-millisecond to ms range, as compared to s-min for traditional approaches. Moreover, the method can be easily integrated into existing patch clamp analysis packages and allow for monitoring of rapid, dynamic chemical processes in a feasible manner.

  • Patent number: 10082936
Abstract: The hand which a user is using to hold an electronic device can be determined by analyzing data captured by one or more motion sensors on the device. The curvature to the motion can be indicative of handedness, and processing motion features using a classifier algorithm can enable the determination of handedness with a corresponding confidence. In some embodiments, motion data is collected over a monitoring window, and handedness values are accepted when the handedness value remains the same with at least a minimum confidence for at least a minimum number of window periods. A determination of handedness enables an operating system and/or applications executing on the device to adjust one or more operational or interface aspects in order to make it easier for the user to operate the device using the hand currently holding the device.

  • Publication number: 20180224438
Abstract: Surface-modified silica microparticles that are functionalized with stabilized phospholipid vesicles are described herein. These stabilized vesicles can be functionalized with either transmembrane receptors or membrane associated receptors and used for affinity pull-down assays or other chromatographic separation modalities to provide affinity capture/concentration of low abundance ligands in complex mixtures with minimal sample preparation. Further described are methods and apparatus for forming polymer frits in a fused silica capillary. The capillary containing a monomer solution is placed between one or more heat sources connected to each other via a jig and operatively coupled to a temperature controller. The polymer frits are synthesized via thermal polymerization of the monomer solution using the heat sources, which allows for placement of the polymer frits at a spatially-defined location in the capillary.

  • Publication number: 20180185842
Abstract: An analysis system may perform operations on an analyte that may be combined with multiple regents prior to being introduced into a flow cell. The instrument may include a volume into which the reagents to be combined with the analyte are aspirated one-by-one. The volume may be formed as a serpentine channel in a valve manifold associated with sippers for aspirating the reagents. The reagents may then be mixed by cycling a pump to move the reagents within the mixing volume or channel.

  • Publication number: 20180188141
Abstract: An analysis instrument may perform analytical operations on an analyte that is combined with multiple reagents prior to being introduced into a flow cell. The instrument may include a nozzle sipper that aspirates reagents from a recipient, along with an analyte. The reagents may be directed to a volume and may be repeatedly moved into and out of the volume by cycling of a pump. The reagents may be ejected into a destination recipient with the nozzle sipper promoting vorticity in the recipient to enhance mixing. The repeated aspiration and ejection through the nozzle sipper effectively mixes the reagents and the template in an automated or semi-automated fashion.

  • Patent number: 9977732
Abstract: The disclosure is related to systems and methods of nonvolatile data caching. In some embodiments, circuits or methods may be configured to store selected data to a nonvolatile data cache based on selection criteria. The selection criteria may be based on previous data access commands. The selection criteria may relate an amount of resources, such as time or power, needed to retrieve the selected data from a data storage medium. The selected data may be retrieved from the data storage medium and stored at the nonvolatile data cache during an idle state.

  • Publication number: 20180080932
Abstract: The present invention relates to moving microorganisms to a surface, where they are grown in the presence and absence of antimicrobials, and by monitoring the growth of the microorganisms over time in the two conditions, their susceptibility to the antimicrobials can be determined. The microorganisms can be moved to the surface through electrophoresis, centrifugation or filtration. When the movement involves electrophoresis, the presence of oxidizing and reducing reagents lowers the voltage at which electrophoretic force can be generated and allows a broader range of means by which the target can be detected. Monitoring can comprise optical detection, and most conveniently includes the detection of individual microorganisms. The microorganisms can be stained in order to give information about their response to antimicrobials.

  • Patent number: 9910357
Abstract: Methods for producing tooling and sheeting using laser writing techniques, and corresponding products thereof, are presented. In one embodiment, a seamless sheet having a plurality of microstructures formed in a continuous microstructured pattern is provided. In the methods described herein, a substrate having a photosensitive coating on a surface thereof is provided. A surface-relief microstructured pattern is produced in the photosensitive coating by selectively exposing the photosensitive coating to a beam of electromagnetic radiation. The exposed portions of the photosensitive coating are developed to form a microstructured pattern on the surface of the substrate. The microstructured pattern is then transferred into retroreflector tooling comprising the microstructured pattern on a surface thereof. A sheet containing the microstructured pattern on a surface thereof is then formed from the retroreflector tooling.
