  • Patent number: 8870035
Abstract: A dispensing device having a housing capable of receiving a pre-packaged charge of pre-whipped topping or icing. The housing has an inner wall with a slot formed therein for receiving a rack that is capable of rotational and translational motion within the slot. The rack has a set of gear teeth that engage with a catch on a plunger. The piston moves in the axial direction to force the pre-whipped topping or icing through the outlet in its packaging. The catch on the piston is locked in one direction and pivots in the opposite direction such that the rack engages with the piston when it moves in a first direction and the rack disengages with the piston when it is moved in a second direction opposite the first direction.

  • Patent number: 8871101
Abstract: First and second liquids are separated from mixtures thereof in a holding tank that holds quantities of the two liquids after they have been separated and a quantity of the mixture that has not been separated. A first transfer conduit receives a pressurized mixture of the first and second liquids which is discharged into the holding tank. A venturi passageway is located in the first transfer conduit. A liquid conductor has an entry opening positioned so that at least a portion of the entry opening is located within the quantity of the mixture that is held in the holding tank and an exit opening that is in fluid communication with the venturi passageway. The increase in the velocity of the pressurized mixture flowing through the venturi passageway and the accompanying reduced pressure causes the mixture held in the holding tank to flow through the liquid conductor into the venturi passageway.

Abstract: A method and associated system for authenticating an end user. A selected subset of root nodes of a set of root nodes in a server mask is received, the selected subset of root nodes having been selected by the end user. In response to the receiving of the selected subset of root nodes, the end user is authenticated by determining that the spatial location in the server mask of each root node of the selected subset of root nodes matches a spatial position of a corresponding root node of a server set of transparent root nodes in the server mask, wherein the server set of transparent root nodes are a result of a first random selection of root nodes from the set of root nodes in the server mask.

  • Patent number: 8874279
Abstract: A vehicle-incident detection method is disclosed herein. Vehicle data is received at a cloud computing system from a vehicle, where the vehicle data is generated by the vehicle in response to an initial detection of a vehicle-related event. After receiving the data, the cloud computing system requests additional vehicle data from the vehicle. The additional vehicle data is generated by the vehicle at a time subsequent to the initial detection of the vehicle-related event. The additional vehicle data is received from the vehicle, and an application resident in the cloud computing system analyzes the vehicle data and the additional vehicle data to determine that the vehicle-related event occurred. The application includes computer readable code embedded on a non-transitory, tangible computer readable medium for performing the analyzing. Also disclosed herein is a vehicle-incident detection system.

  • Patent number: 8873365
Abstract: For transmit diversity in a multi-antenna OFDM system, a transmitter encodes, interleaves, and symbol maps traffic data to obtain data symbols. The transmitter processes each pair of data symbols to obtain two pairs of transmit symbols for transmission from a pair of antennas either (1) in two OFDM symbol periods for space-time transmit diversity or (2) on two subbands for space-frequency transmit diversity. NT·(NT?1)/2 different antenna pairs are used for data transmission, with different antenna pairs being used for adjacent subbands, where NT is the number of antennas. The system may support multiple OFDM symbol sizes. The same coding, interleaving, and modulation schemes are used for different OFDM symbol sizes to simplify the transmitter and receiver processing. The transmitter performs OFDM modulation on the transmit symbol stream for each antenna in accordance with the selected OFDM symbol size. The receiver performs the complementary processing.

  • Patent number: 8874407
Abstract: A measurement means for a downhole tool for determining the orientation of the axis of a downhole tool in relation to true north. It includes a gyro sensor capable of measuring angular rate, a rotation means for rotating the gyro sensor about a sensor axis, a measurement means to detect the angular rate at the gyro sensor as it is rotated to form a series of readings, and a processor capable of interpreting the signal amplitude from the series of readings and determining the points of greatest signal amplitude. The processor is also being capable of comparing the phase difference between the actual readings taken against what would be generated with the sensor pointing true north thus providing a downhole tool axis angular deviation from true north. The rotation means rotates the gyro sensor in discrete steps.
