  • Patent number: 8779624
Abstract: Methods and systems for branch encoding an electric network to identify a direction of power flow in the electric network are provided. Sequential numbers are assigned to a first power source, each one of a plurality of power branches, and each one of a plurality of nodes. A rationalized value indicative of a direction of current flow through a branch is assigned to each branch of the plurality of branches. The rationalized value of each branch is determined as the difference between the numbers assigned to that branch's first connecting node and its second connecting node.

  • Patent number: 8777781
Abstract: A variable gravity training device allows a user to train skills in controlling a sports device. The training device has a stationary base, a movable support bar, and a sports device, for example, a ball, a badminton birdie, or a volley ball affixed to the end of the bar. The support bar is weighted, so that the amount of force required to move the sports device is reduced. The weighted bar also reduces the speed with which the sports device returns to its home position. The force adjustment means is adjustable, so that, with training, weights may be removed, so that the conditions governing the sports device correspond to real playing conditions.

  • Patent number: 8776997
Abstract: This invention relates to conveyor guides comprising conveyor guide rail units, such as those used on automated handling lines where containers of different sizes are processed. One or more guide rails are employed to the sides of the conveyor guide to ensure that articles follow a desired path. This invention provides an adjustable conveyor guide rail unit that comprises a guide member operable to be set in a plurality of discrete positions, thereby allowing the width of a channel through which an article may be conveyed to be varied. Width adjustment is effected by adjusting a rotatable tab to align one of a number of holes with a pin provided on the guide rail. With the pin received in a hole, the guide rail is secured in a desired setting.

  • Patent number: 8782553
Abstract: This invention provides a Graphical User Interface (GUI) that operates in connection with a machine vision detector or other machine vision system, which provides a highly intuitive and industrial machine-like appearance and layout. The GUI includes a centralized image frame window surrounded by panes having buttons and specific interface components that the user employs in each step of a machine vision system set up and run procedure. One pane allows the user to view and manipulate a recorded filmstrip of image thumbnails taken in a sequence, and provides the filmstrip with specialized highlighting (colors or patterns) that indicate useful information about the underlying images. The programming of logic is performed using a programming window that includes a ladder logic arrangement.

  • Patent number: 8782646
Abstract: In a NUMA-topology computer system that includes multiple nodes and multiple logical partitions, some of which may be dedicated and others of which are shared, NUMA optimizations are enabled in shared logical partitions. This is done by specifying a home node parameter in each virtual processor assigned to a logical partition. When a task is created by an operating system in a shared logical partition, a home node is assigned to the task, and the operating system attempts to assign the task to a virtual processor that has a home node that matches the home node for the task. The partition manager then attempts to assign virtual processors to their corresponding home nodes. If this can be done, NUMA optimizations may be performed without the risk of reducing the performance of the shared logical partition.

  • Patent number: 8780632
Abstract: A NAND Flash based content addressable memory (CAM) is used for a key-value addressed storage drive. The device can use a standard transport protocol such as PCI-E, SAS, SATA, eMMC, SCSI, and so on. A host writes a key-value pair to the drive, where the drive writes the keys along bit lines of a CAM NAND portion of the drive and stores the value in the drive. The drive then maintains a table linking the keys to location of the value. In a read process, the host provides a key to drive, which then broadcasts down the word lines of blocks storing the keys. Based on any matching bit lines, the tables can then be used to retrieve and supply the corresponding data to the host. This arrangement can be applied to de-duplication: for data sets stored in a primary data storage section, corresponding data keys can be generated and store in search NAND. A received key, rather from external to the system or internally generated, can then be compared against the search NAND.

  • Patent number: 8782766
Abstract: A system for, and method of, single sign-on collaboration among a plurality of mobile devices, includes a server for issuing a first identity token to subsequently authenticate a user of a first of the mobile devices to a service provider, and for generating and sending a collaboration credential to the first device based on the first identity token or user authentication. The first device sends the collaboration credential generated by the server to a second device paired with the first device. The server also issues a second identity token to subsequently authenticate to the service provider the user of the second device based on the collaboration credential received from the first device, to support single sign-on collaboration for the user across the plurality of mobile devices.
