  • Patent number: 8782026
Abstract: A computerized system and method for analyzing color consistency on automotive parts and for providing feedback on painting processes occurring in an assembly plant. The system and method facilitates data collection and analysis at numerous points during the assembly paint processes and the identification of possible adjustments so that parts are painted within a specified tolerance. Body and bumper parts are measured during an inspection process. Measurement and colorimetric data is stored in association with an identifier for the body part or bumper. Measurements relate to equipment and paint mix variables as well as environmental variables that influence the paint results. A software application facilitates analysis of the data and troubleshooting possible causes for color discrepancies. As the color trends away from a specified standard, paint process, including environmental, changes are made, prior to the painting of parts in the bumper or body so that color mismatches are prevented.

  • Patent number: 8782746
Abstract: A multiple-identity secure device (MISD) persistently stores a single identification code (a “seed identity”). The seed identity need not be a network address, and may be stored in an integral memory of the device, or on an interchangeable card received in a physical interface of the MISD. The MISD is provided with a transformation engine, in hardware or software form, that is subsequently used to generate one or more unique identities (e.g., network addresses) from the stored seed identity using predefined logic. The generated identities may be dynamically generated, e.g., in real-time as needed after deployment of a device into possession of a subscriber/customer/user, etc., or may be securely stored in the MISD for subsequent retrieval. The transformation engine may generate a unique identity in accordance with an addressing scheme identified as a default setting, a global/network setting, or as determined from a received data transmission.

  • Patent number: 8782024
Abstract: A mechanism is provided for sharing resources among logical partitions in a logical partitioned data processing system and for managing the changes to resources in such a way that the sharing operating systems are able to handle the various transitions in a graceful manner. Four hypervisor functions plus a specific return code manage the granting of access of resources owned by one partition to another (client) partition, accepting of granted resources by client partitions, returning of granted resources by client partitions, and rescinding of access by the owning partition. These four hypervisor functions are invoked either explicitly by the owning and client partitions or automatically by the hypervisor in response to partition termination. The hypervisor functions provide the needed infrastructure to manage the sharing of logical resources among partitions.

  • Patent number: 8777348
Abstract: A fire pulse circuit for use in an inkjet printer includes an input control signal transmitted from a controller to a logic AND gate and to fire truncation logic; fire truncation logic adapted to truncate a pulse width of the input control signal to a maximum allowable pulse width if the duration of the pulse exceeds a maximum allowable time; a logic AND gate that receives inputs from both the input control signal and the fire truncation logic to produce an output fire pulse signal that operates to optimally fire an inkjet heater driver logic to heat the heater to nucleate ink from the print head. The circuit is formed from either a combination of digital and analog components or from exclusively digital components. A method of using the circuit to generate an output fire pulse to an inkjet heater driver logic is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8781592
Abstract: A stimulation system, such as a spinal cord stimulation (SCS) system, having a programmer for identifying an area for electrical stimulation to treat a patient. The programmer includes a communication interface, a display screen, and a user interface. The communication interface communicates with the electrical stimulation generator to generate electrical stimulation and the display screen displays a patient model. The user interface receives user input identifying an area of pain on the patient model via a selection of the area of the body part. The programmer then associates the area of pain identified with a spinal column location, and displays on the display screen a suggested medical lead position and/or a suggested stimulation area on an image of a spinal column based on the step of associating.

  • Patent number: 8781797
Abstract: A channel emulator reads a record of captured radio signal data of a group of cellular base stations in a fielded cellular network from a memory. Based on the record of the captured radio signal data, the channel emulator generates a simulation of a radio environment of the fielded cellular network. In one aspect, the simulation generates a number of live cellular base station signals fewer than the group of cellular base stations in the fielded cellular network. In another aspect, a terrain environment model is applied based on the captured radio signal data.

  • Patent number: 8780233
Abstract: A method includes receiving a frame containing an object of interest and determining a current pixel density of the object of interest. The current pixel density is compared to a minimum pixel density to generate a comparison result and an indication is received of available throughput of a wireless network used to transmit the video. Based on the comparison result and the available throughput, a pixel density compensation method is selected from multiple methods, which include adjusting a zoom feature of a camera used to capture the video and adjusting encoded frame resolution. Using the selected pixel density compensation method, a pixel density compensation parameter is determined to adjust the current pixel density with respect to the minimum pixel density for the object of interest. The pixel density compensation parameter is provided to one or both of the camera or an encoder that sends the video over the wireless network.

  • Patent number: 8780635
Abstract: Various techniques for extending the capabilities of CAM NAND type memories are discussed. Multi-block or even full chip search operations can be performed. In addition to the inherent AND property of NAND strings, the memory array has an inherent OR property between NAND string from different blocks along the same bit line that can be exploited through multi-block CAM-type operations. To reduce data-dependent word line to word line effects, in multiple data dependent sensing operations, the sensing can be broken up into sub-operations that avoid data dependent values on adjacent word lines. To improve data protection, subsequent to writing a memory block with indices, the word lines are read back and compared bit-by-bit with their intended values and the results are accumulated to determine whether any of indices include error. A bloom filter can also be used as an initial check during data search operations in order to provide increased data protection.

  • Patent number: 8781098
Abstract: In a method for use in Interactive Voice Response (IVR) systems, an IVR is configured such that voice prompts provided to a caller vary systematically and caller hang-up activity is attributed to the particular version of a prompt played to the caller. Voice prompt modifications are chosen based on how long the caller willingly listens to the voice prompt. A relatively short time listening to a prompt before hang-up, indicates dissatisfaction with that prompt. The system compares caller hang-up rates for each of the phrases in a prompt and chooses the optimum solution, which is the variant of the prompt with the longest caller listening time. Optionally, the system compares hang up rates to a threshold and contingent on that comparison chooses an alternative version of the prompt.
