  • Publication number: 20150285543
Abstract: An intermittent operation based continuous absorption system (IOBCAS) which supports cooling effect during the daytime without the use of a solution pump is provided. The IOBCAS may utilize an isochoric process for pressurization of the system and the system may include a plurality of generator-absorber units that intermittently operate in succession to provide a continuous refrigeration cooling effect during the daytime. The system of the present disclosure enables the plurality of generator-absorber units to switch between a generation, absorption, and heat recovery mode of operation to provide cooling effect during the daytime which a higher coefficient of performance compared with conventional intermittent system.

  • Publication number: 20150238930
Abstract: The metal organic framework adsorbent for solar adsorption refrigeration is a nanocomposite made from a metal organic framework matrix having carbon nanotubes incorporated therein. Preferably, the metal organic framework is composed of MIL-100(Fe), and the carbon nanotubes are functionalized with carboxyl (COOH) groups. In order to prepare the metal organic framework adsorbent, carbon nanotubes functionalized with carboxyl (COOH) groups are first added to an aqueous solution of a precursor salt, such as ferric trinitrate nonahydrate (Fe(NO3)3ยท9H2O), to form a first mixture. The first mixture is then sonicated and a 1,3,5 benzenetricarboxylic acid ligand is added thereto to form a second mixture. The second mixture is then sonicated and heated, and the metal organic framework nanocomposite is separated therefrom, preferably as a powder.

  • Publication number: 20150176869
Abstract: A solar powered intermittent absorption refrigeration system utilizes helical coil heat exchangers for generation, absorption, dephlegmation, condensation and heat recovery. The thermo-siphon effect is used to supply and reject heat from the system, to recover and utilize heat from a waste energy unit, to reject heat of absorption, and to pressurize and depressurize the system. • Publication number: 20140149605
Abstract: This disclosure is directed to dictionary-based compression, which may be employed to achieve stateful header compression without maintaining a complete deflate state. The compressor may maintain a history of data streams compressed by the compressor, compressed according to a compression dictionary. Responsive to the compression of the one or more data streams, the compressor may delete the first compression dictionary from the memory. Subsequent to the deletion, the compressor may compress an additional data stream using the maintained history. The compressor may generate a second compression dictionary from at least one of: the maintained history and a portion of the additional data stream. The compressor may allocate memory for a compression state of the additional data stream and may load the maintained history into the compression state.

  • Patent number: 8655834
Abstract: A file I/O operation is initiated to store a result of a file I/O operation in a destination file. In response to the file I/O operation being in progress, an amount of the file I/O operation currently completed is monitored. In response to determining that the amount of the file I/O operation currently completed is less than a threshold amount, another destination file is specified through a user interface, in which to store a result of file I/O operation not yet completed. The file I/O operation stores the remaining result of the file I/O operation at the another destination file. A single file handle is updated for the result of the file I/O operation to reference the destination file comprising the portion of the result and the another destination file comprising the remaining result.

  • Patent number: 8230799
Abstract: The present invention is a shackle apparatus used for the lifting of subsea objects. The shackle apparatus includes a shackle body having a first leg and a second leg in which each of the legs has an eyelet formed therein. A pin is mounted through the eyelets of the legs of the shackle body. At least one latch extends radially outwardly of the pin and resides adjacent the first leg of the shackle body. A stop surface extends from the pin and is positioned adjacent the second leg of the shackle body. The pin has a generally pointed end so that a remotely operated vehicle can suitably guide the pin through the eyelets of the shackle body. A gripping member extends outwardly from an end of the pin so as to provide a surface whereby an ROV can grip the pin for installation into the shackle body.
