  • Publication number: 20150017395
Abstract: A cut-out laminated sheet can be prepared by laminating a protection sheet on a base sheet, followed by a simple two-step shearing process. The cut-out laminated sheet thus prepared features a protruding section that helps improving productivity by making the removal of the protection sheet easy; and thus, can be effectively used in a wide range of industrial applications such as a brittle sheet and a flexible sheet.

  • Patent number: 8920844
Abstract: Methods for enhancing the release and/or absorption of poorly water soluble active agents are described herein. The method involves dissolving, melting, or suspending a poorly water soluble active agent in one or more molten fatty acids, conjugated fatty acids, (semi-) solid surfactants of high HLB value, and/or hydrophilic polymers. The molten active agent mixture is then suspended and homogenized in a hydrophilic or lipophilic carrier to form microparticles suspended in the hydrophilic or lipophilic carrier. The particles suspended in the hydrophilic or lipophilic carrier can be encapsulated in a hard or soft gelatin or non-gelatin capsule. It is believed that the microparticles produced by the method described above will exhibit enhanced dissolution profiles. In vitro release studies of formulations containing cilostazol and fenofibrate showed 100% dissolution of cilostazol in 15 minutes and over 90% dissolution of fenofibrate in 35 minutes.

  • Publication number: 20140256078
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for slicing and shaping materials using magnetically guided chemical etching. In one aspect, a method includes forming a pattern on a substrate by a mask, depositing a catalytic etcher layer on the patterned substrate, a magnetic guide layer on the etcher layer, and a protection layer on the guide layer, etching the substrate by applying an etching solution to the substrate that chemically reacts with the etcher layer and etches material from the substrate at exposed regions not covered by the mask, steering the composite etching structure into the substrate during the etching by an applied magnetic field that creates a force on the guide layer to direct the etching, in which the steering defines the shape of the sliced regions of the etched substrate, and removing the etched material, the mask, and the composite etching structure to produce a sliced material structure.

  • Publication number: 20130323304
• Patent number: 8039520
Abstract: An electrolyte membrane includes a nanocomposite ion complex that is a reaction product of a nanocomposite with a basic polymer. The nanocomposite includes a polymer having a sulfonic acid group and an unmodified clay. Either the unmodified clay has a layered structure and is dispersed in the polymer having the sulfonic acid group, and the polymer is intercalated between layers of the clay or the unmodified clay has an exfoliated structure and the exfoliated layers of the unmodified clay are dispersed in the polymer. The electrolyte membrane shows high mechanical strength, high ionic conductivity, and excellent methanol crossover impeding properties even when the degree of sulfonation of the polymer having the sulfonic acid group is high. When a methanol aqueous solution is used as a fuel, the fuel cell including the electrolyte membrane has a low methanol crossover, and thus, has a high operational efficiency and a long lifetime.

  • Patent number: 7666069
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a wafer holder and a related wafer conveyor system. The wafer holder holds a wafer and moves horizontally within a chamber. A contact area between the wafer and the wafer holder is reduced, and potential contaminants generated by ear between components of the wafer holder are trapped by an airtight cover. Since the wafer holder moves horizontally while being fixed to a guide rail, the wafer conveyor system reduces friction between the guide rail and the wafer holder.
