Publication number: 20030146683Abstract: A tension mask cathode ray tube has a vacuum tube and an inner shield mounted within the vacuum tube to shield the vacuum tube from geomagnetism. A value Br/Hc of the inner shield where Br indicates a residual magnetic flux density and Hc indicates a coercive force is established to be 1.0-2.0 times more than a value Br/Hc of the mask frame. In this structure, the route of electron beams is established to be more precise. Consequently, the purity characteristic and the convergence characteristic are improved while forming a precise raster. In this way, the display screen quality can be enhanced.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 13, 2003Publication date: August 7, 2003Inventors: Hyang-Jin Koh, Seong-Seob Kim, Jong-Heon Kim, Tae-Yong Kim

Patent number: 6524645Abstract: A process for the metalization of substrates is disclosed. The metal either forms a coating over the entire substrate, or it is patternwise deposited on the substrate surface. Metal is patternwise formed on the substrate either by forming a pattern of resist material on the substrate and depositing the material in the interstices defined by the pattern or by forming a patterned resist layer over a metal layer and transferring the pattern into the substrate using conventional techniques. The patterned resist layer is formed on the substrate using conventional techniques. The substrate is treated with reagents that promote the electroless plating of metal on the substrate surface. If the resist material has been previously formed on the substrate surface, the substrate surface is then dried. The remaining resist is then removed from the substrate surface.Type: GrantFiled: October 18, 1994Date of Patent: February 25, 2003Assignee: Agere Systems Inc.Inventors: Michael D. Publication number: 20030023899Abstract: In a switching system, a data compression/transmission and restoration method performed using an IPC (inter processor communication) checks whether received original data is repeated, provides a pertinent signal to the checked data, transmitting the signal, and restores the signal in a main processor. Data compression efficiency is improved by checking whether one byte of received data is repeated, providing a different signal according to the check result, and transmitting the resulting information through the IPC. In addition, load on the overall switching system is reduced in terms of data compression time and restoration time.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 10, 2002Publication date: January 30, 2003Applicant: LG Electronics Inc.Inventor: Tae-Yong Kim

Publication number: 20020090029Abstract: A system and method for real time transmission of variable bit rate MPEG video traffic with consistent quality, wherein each frame is encoded with quantization parameter generated from an encoder rate controller, and encoded data is transmitted to an encoder buffer. Transmission rate about each frame interval is determined by a channel rate controller at the beginning of the frame interval. Data transmission buffered at the encoder buffer is first regulated by Leaky Bucket counter, and the regulated data is transferred to a decoder buffer in a video receiving system through network. The encoder rate controller and channel rate controller included in the VBR video transmission system control the transmission rate generated from the video encoder and that from the network with satisfying imposed constrained conditions, respectively.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 28, 2001Publication date: July 11, 2002Applicant: Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.Inventor: Tae-Yong Kim

Publication number: 20020053074Abstract: A loading error restoring apparatus and method of an exchange are disclosed. A client processor loads a specific program related to a switching system and checks whether a loading error occurs more than a predetermined number of times in the loading process. If so, the client processor transmits a load request signal identifying a requested program to a loading server. In response, the loading server transmits a load reply signal containing the requested program, if it is available. Thereafter, the client processor checks whether the requested program exists in the transmitted load reply signal and loads the transmitted program to an associated disk and memory if the requested program exists.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 30, 2001Publication date: May 2, 2002Applicant: LG Electronics Inc.Inventor: Tae Yong Kim

Patent number: 6151207Abstract: A structure for protecting impact-sensitive elements of electronic systems from external impact is used to protect electronic systems, such as portable computer, from impact. The above structure consists of a first member, a second member assembled with the first member into a single body, and a third member interposed between the first and second members and having a depressed seat on a surface facing the first member. A fourth member is seated in the depressed seat of the third member. A locking member assembles the first and second members into a single body while passing through the third member interposed between the first and second members, thus allowing the third member along with the fourth member to be supported by the first and second members. The above structure thus prevents impact energy from being transmitted to or damaging the fourth member when the system is impacted.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 1998Date of Patent: November 21, 2000Assignee: SamSung Electronics Co., Ltd.Inventor: Tae-Yong Kim

Patent number: 6142593Abstract: A portable computer docking station provided with adjustable guide rails. The guiding device effectively guides various portable computers on the docking station irrespective of different widths or differently positioned computer ports. Thus, the present invention allows users to buy a docking station regardless of the types of portable computers that will be interfaced with the docking station. The present invention also allows a user to use an existing docking station when the user changes a currently used portable computer for a new one. The invention further allows computer manufacturers to disregard specifically designing docking stations every time a new portable computer is developed.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 1998Date of Patent: November 7, 2000Assignee: SamSung Electronics Co., Ltd.Inventors: Tae-Yong Kim, Phil-Kyu Choi

Patent number: 6044473Abstract: The present invention relates to a portable computer having a switch for changing a power-controlling mode. In a portable computer which a display and a main housing are connected by a hinge, the object of the present invention cuts off or controls power automatically, when a user does not turn off a system and then close a display of a portable computer. To achieve these objectives, the present invention comprises a fixed axle, a lever and a power-controlling mode switch. The fixed axle is formed in the inner part of the display. The lever, which is connected with the fixed axle, turns in accordance with an angle between the display and the main housing. The power-controlling mode switch changes a power-controlling mode of a portable computer in accordance with a turning of the lever.Type: GrantFiled: January 20, 1998Date of Patent: March 28, 2000Assignee: SamSung Electronics Co., Ltd.Inventor: Tae-Yong Kim

Patent number: 5315601Abstract: An error correction method and apparatus for correcting multiple errors in received digital data word signals calculates syndromes S.sub.0, S.sub.1, S.sub.2 and S.sub.3 from a block of n received data words and a parity check matrix H. First coefficients .sigma..sub.1 and .sigma..sub.2 are calculated from the derived syndromes and a second coefficient K is calculated from the first coefficients .sigma..sub.1 and .sigma..sub.2. An error location value x.sub.1 is calculated from the second coefficient K, actual error location values X.sub.1 and X.sub.2 are calculated from the value x.sub.1, and error values Y.sub.1 and Y.sub.2 are calculated from the actual error location values X.sub.1 and X.sub.2. The received data words are then corrected by applying the calculated error values Y.sub.1 and Y.sub.2. The error location value x.sub.1 calculator is preferably constituted by logic gates which enable the apparatus to be smaller and faster than those using a conventional ROM table.Type: GrantFiled: May 30, 1991Date of Patent: May 24, 1994Assignee: Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.Inventors: Man-young Lee, Hak-song Park, Young-cheol Kim, Tae-yong Kim, Yong-jin Choi, Jae-moon Kim
