  • Patent number: 4922238
Abstract: A method and apparatus for independently and dynamically performing smooth-scrolling a display line at a time is disclosed herein. An offset value for smooth-scrolling for each display line, is provided which shifts the image information of each display line by pixel. Rewriting of the screen according to the offset value is performed in synchronization with refreshing of the display screen. Selective smooth-scrolling can be performed for a displayed image in each display line, and complicated and various image display can be shifted by controlling the existence or nonexistence and speed of smooth-scrolling for each display line.

  • Patent number: 4868554
Abstract: A raster scan type display apparatus for displaying characters having attributes. The attributes are, for example: (i) underlining, (ii) reverse video, (iii) high intensity, and (iv) blinking. The characters and attributes are stored in a refresh memmory. The display may be operated in either a field attribute mode or in a character attribute mode. In the field attribute mode, one field attribute byte in the refresh memory sets the attributes for at least one, but usually many characters which follow the field attribute byte in the refresh memory. In the character attribute mode, one character attribute byte in the refresh memory sets the attribute for only one character which precedes the character attribute in the refresh memory. In the character attribute mode, field attributes may be provided (in addition to the character attributes) for strings of characters following the field attributes.

  • Patent number: 4502220
Abstract: The present invention relates to a hand-held type opening and closing action tool in the form having front active pieces for cutting and other operations adapted to perform opening and closing motion around the axis of a pivot, as found in manual sharp-edged tools and manual tools, such as scissors, pliers, nippers, and strippers. The tool comprises a hand-holdable cover case formed with an elongated guide hole, opening and closing operation levers pivotally mounted on the case and normally resiliently urged in the direction to spread out from the case, and front active pieces operatively connected to the levers to bear the resilient force on the levers and adapted to be opened and closed by the levers, the arrangement being such that the levers are prostrated into the sunken state in the case against the resilient force and in this state the pivot of the pieces is slid along the elongated guide hole of the case, whereby the pieces are also received in the case in the sunken state.

  • Patent number: 4425682
Abstract: A clamp useful for connecting fluid-conveying hoses and the like to couplings, valves and the like. The clamp is formed of a spring metal strip which has portions of its longitudinal parallel linear edges cut to provide a pair of parallel inclined linear edges such that the original constant width of the strip is gradually reduced toward the longitudinal opposite ends of the strip so that the width of the strip varies in proportion to the bending moment produced in the strip, with the thus narrowed opposite ends being bent in mutually opposed relation to provide operating knobs for forcibly spreading the ring diameter. The spring metal strip thus prepared is then wound into a ring of right circle, with the inclined linear edges abutting against each other along a given length, thereby ensuring uniform bending stress throughout the ring.

  • Patent number: 4374217
Abstract: A cold-setting starch adhesive comprising the mixture of three different types of corn starch having widely different properties, i.e., high amylose corn starch having an amylose content of at least 50%, ordinary corn starch and waxy corn starch, in specific proportions. The adhesive shows excellent properties due to the effective combination of the outstanding properties of the individual types of starch.

  • Patent number: 4351097
Abstract: Hydraulic pliers useful for mounting and dismounting snap rings (otherwise called C-shaped stop rings) of large nominal diameter. They comprise a hand-holdable plier main body having working fluid contained therein, a hydraulic piston mechanism contained in the plier main body and adapted to be moved by hydraulic forces exerted by manual pumping operation effected by gripping action applied from outside, and a working-pin opening and closing mechanism mounted on a plier head for operative connection to the hydraulic piston and adapted to be opened or closed in the same plane and at right angles to the directon of movement of the hydraulic piston as the latter advances. The hydraulic pliers do not require any accessory equipment and are handy to carry. Thus, they are designed to expand or contract snap rings of large diameter lightly and efficiently by their hydraulic force.

  • Patent number: 4001612
Abstract: This invention features the use of two paralleled insulated gate depletion channel field effect transistors (FET) having their gates connected one to the source voltage and one to the drain voltage to provide a linear resistance element. The actual resistance value can be controlled by selecting design parameters and can be extended by using a plurality of such elements in series to provide greater resistances and/or higher voltage capabilities or in parallel to provide greater current capacity. The described resistor is used as a cost and space saving alternate to discrete resistor components and is particularly useful as a part of an integrated circuit in analog type devices.
