Patent number: 6442118Abstract: A laser waveform generation function is provided in a laser driving waveform generator 2 near a laser 3. A recording clock generator 9 is included in the laser driving waveform generator 2 to generate a clock with a frequency higher than that of a synchronizing clock 202. This allows a recording laser current (waveform) to be generated without transmission of a high frequency signal from the modulator 6. Further, because the synchronizing clock 202 is stopped upon a reproduction operation including reproduction operation in an ID unit, undesired effects on a reproduction operation such as ID reproduction can be reduced. Because the response speed of the recording clock generator 9 can be changed, a high precision clock can be generated. Thus, a high-precision recording laser current (waveform) can be generated.Type: GrantFiled: January 20, 2000Date of Patent: August 27, 2002Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Takashi Hoshino, Toshimitsu Kaku, Akihiro Asada, Takehiko Sekine

Patent number: 6011416Abstract: A microcomputer 4 responds to an instruction signal to turn the load L on or off to control the FET 2 through the drive circuit 5. The microcomputer 4 samples an electric current I.sub.L which is supplied through the A/D converter 6 and which flows in the load L at every predetermined sampling time T.sub.S and subjects the sampled electric current I.sub.L to a comparison with a known rated current value I.sub.R for the load L. When I.sub.L .gtoreq.I.sub.R is satisfied, the microcomputer 4 starts counting energizing time T. When the accumulated value of I.sub.L .times.T.sub.S is enlarged to a predetermined value S.sub.O, the microcomputer 4 turns the FET 2 off. When the detected electric current I.sub.L is larger than an upper limit I.sub.O (>I.sub.R) determined previously, the microcomputer 4 immediately turns the FET 2 off through the drive circuit 5.Type: GrantFiled: November 19, 1997Date of Patent: January 4, 2000Assignees: Harness System Technologies Research Ltd., Sumitomo Wiring Systems, Ltd., Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd.Inventors: Fumiaki Mizuno, Takashi Hoshino, Motonori Kido, Yoshiyuki Miyazaki

Patent number: 5586108Abstract: Reliability of data is improved by increasing the length of burst error correction of recorded data. Instead of the conventional error correcting codes produced in a sector, error correcting code interleaved among sectors is generated. Otherwise, double codes are formed by decreasing parity number of the conventional error correcting codes produced in the sector and adding error correcting code interleaved among the sectors instead. The length of burst error correction of recorded data is increased by interleaving error correction code among the sectors. Further, the efficiency of use of disk can be improved since parity sector is not used and, in addition to this, the speed of processing can be improved since there is no need to read out unnecessary sectors during correction.Type: GrantFiled: June 23, 1995Date of Patent: December 17, 1996Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventor: Takashi Hoshino
