  • Patent number: 6175711
Abstract: The image forming apparatus is capable of preventing contamination of the rear surface of paper while minimizing the deterioration of the surface of the transfer roll. The image forming apparatus has an intermediate transfer belt for carrying a toner image visualized by a toner, a transfer roll pressed against the intermediate transfer belt, and a cleaning brush that is rotatable in contact with the transfer roll. This transfer roll acts to transfer the toner image carried on the belt to paper. The cleaning brush makes contact with the transfer roll to stir the toner adhering to the transfer roll.

  • Patent number: 6144451
Abstract: A focusing state detecting or distance measuring apparatus or camera which measures a focusing state or distance of an object for a plurality of different areas in a scene. The apparatus or camera includes a light receiver for receiving a light beam associated with each area associated in the scene at a light receiving portion corresponding to each area. Each light receiving portion has a plurality of elements and provides an output corresponding to the received light. The apparatus also includes a processing circuit for performing calculation and regulation functions. When performing a calculation function, the circuit performs a correlation calculation on an output of each of the light receiving portions to detect a focusing state or distance for each light receiving portion.

  • Patent number: 6104899
Abstract: In an image forming apparatus adapted to transfer a toner image formed on a photosensitive drum to an intermediate transfer belt, and thereafter to a sheet, the position of one end portion of a backup roll around which the intermediate transfer belt is passed is set regulatable, this end portion being fixed after the position thereof has been regulated. The position of one end portion of a driving roll, cleaning blades or photosensitive drum may be set regulatable. This arrangement enables the skew of an image formed on a sheet to be reduced.

  • Patent number: 6084658
Abstract: A distance measuring apparatus provided with a plurality of light-emitting units and a plurality of light-receiving units. The light emission period of each of the light-emitting units is changed over at each predetermined period interval. A plurality of light-receiving elements constituting each light-receiving unit are constructed so as to receive the reflected lights from a plurality of distance measurement fields of view on an object to be photographed in a plurality of distance measurement zones obtained by dividing a range to be measured into several blocks. The input signal from each of the light-receiving elements in each of the distance measurement zones is changed over in synchronism with the light emission period of the light-emitting units and the output signals for the respective distance measurement zones are compared, whereby a distance data indicative of the distance measurement zone most approximate to the object distance is put out.

  • Patent number: 5796095
Abstract: An optical apparatus includes area sensors which are made to differ in picture element pitch between the central portions and the marginal portions thereof (the marginal portions are made to have a coarse picture element pitch since it is not very meaningful even if the picture element pitch is made fine because the performance of an optical system is limited, and the central portions are made to have a dense picture element pitch) and the changeover of the respective picture elements is electronically effected by reading-out means so that two kinds of object field information (detailed information and coarse information) may be obtained from the area sensors.

  • Patent number: 5683347
Abstract: A balloon catheter used for intra-aortic balloon pumping (IABP). In the balloon catheter, an outer diameter of a catheter tube is not made constant in the axial direction. Rather, the outer diameter of the catheter tube from a hemostatic valve to a bifurcation, the portion which is positioned outside the patient's blood vessel, is made 3 to 30 percent larger than the outer diameter of the catheter tube from the balloon portion to the hemostatic valve, which is positioned inside the patient's blood vessel. The bifurcation has a first passage and a second passage. The first passage is communicating with a shuttle gas port and is disposed straight along the direction of the axial center of the catheter tube.
