  • Publication number: 20040165254
Abstract: In an non-polarized pump light source (5), a laser light source (1) transmits a virtually linearly-polarized light beam that has plural mode components arranged at an interval of an almost equal angular frequency. The transmitted light beam of the laser light source (1) is connected with a polarization dispersion device (3) in such a way that the polarization axes of the transmitted light beam and the polarization dispersion device (3) meet to form a 45° angle. In the polarization dispersion device (3), when the mode interval angular frequency is considered to be &Dgr;&ohgr;, the polarization mode dispersion that is not in the vicinity of (2&pgr;/&Dgr;&ohgr;) is effected on the incident light from the laser light source (1). As a result, though the optical path difference between the two polarization modes becomes less than the coherent length, an effectively non-polarizing light is transmitted as a pump light from the non-polarized pump light source (5).

  • Publication number: 20040114936
Abstract: If no alarm information is input from an optical receiver (12), an FEC decoder (13), or a client signal monitor (14), a control circuit (15) controls a variable dispersion equalizer (11) such that a transmission error becomes smaller using information on the number of error corrections obtained from the FEC decoder (13) and fixes a dispersion equalization value in the event that the error becomes equal to or lower than a specified value. If the alarm information is input, the control circuit (15) switches control over the variable dispersion equalizer (11) from an ordinary control to a search mode control for searching an optimal dispersion equalization value in a wide range to thereby search the optimal dispersion equalization value at a higher speed.

  • Publication number: 20020160498
Abstract: A full-length cDNA encoding novel proteins involved in the control of cell proliferation (human Gros1-L and S) was successfully isolated from the human testis cDNA libraries. A full-length cDNA encoding the mouse homologues of the human Gros1 (mouse Gros1-L and S) was also isolated. The colony forming activity of cells exogenously expressing Gros1-L was significantly reduced, while that of cells expressing Gros1 antisense RNA was significantly increased.

  • Publication number: 20010008452
Abstract: The wavelength multiplexing optical transmission system is provided with a wave divider that divides received wavelength-multiplexed light signal for each predetermined channel block. Further, PMD compensation circuits compensate the PMD of each light signal. Wavelength variable filter selectively outputs only light signal having a desired wavelength. Polarization analyzing sections analyze polarization using Jones Matrix method. Finally, compensation control sections control the PMD compensation by each PMD compensating circuit based on the result of analysis in each polarization analyzing section.

  • Patent number: 5699155
Abstract: An improved emission spectral analysis method and apparatus for analyzing a sample by causing discharge and light emission between the sample and the counter electrode, spectroscopically dispersing the spectral lines peculiar to the elements, and measuring the wavelength and intensity of each spectral line. The discharge is caused in such a way that the surface of the sample facing the counter electrode is made to almost parallel to the light gathering axis of a spectroscope. Consequently, spectral lines which are not affected by the light of the sample itself and vapor can be gathered into the spectroscope and the background variation of the spectral lines can be reduced. In addition, light is gathered in a plurality of directions, so that the analysis accuracy can be improved and the lower determination limit can be expanded.
