  • Patent number: 5131942
Abstract: A method and apparatus for producing molten metal from powder state ore through smelting process to be performed in a shaft furnace, utilized the reducing material having grain size greater than that n-times of the gas flow velocity corresponding grain size to charge from the top of a shaft furnace for forming fluidized bed at the upper section of the furnace and a reducing material filled section below the fluidized bed. The method and apparatus for smelting the powder state ore also takes the reducing material having smaller grain size to be blown into the furnace through tuyeres.

  • Patent number: 4959166
Abstract: A fluid composition for use in a viscous coupling is provided, which comprises (A) a base oil made of a polyorganosiloxane fluid having a viscosity of from about 500 to about 500,000 centistokes at 25.degree. C., and (B) at least one component selected from the group consisting of sulfur and sulfur compounds (b) to (g) listed below being added in a minor amount to said base oil;(b) a hydrocarbon sulfide;(c) a sulfurized oil or fat which is the reaction product of an oil or fat and sulfur;(d) a zinc dithiophosphate;(e) a dialkyldithiocarbamic acid metal salt;(f) elemental sulfur; and(g) a cyclic hydrocarbon sulfide. This fluid composition can be stably used in a viscous coupling for an extended period.

  • Patent number: 4335078
Abstract: A catalytic reactor confining a catalyst in a mid-portion of a tubular housing made up of a pair of shells flanged sideways and welded together. The cross-sectional area of the housing becomes largest in the mid-portion, and the assembled shells define therein a fore-portion diverging towards the mid-portion and an aft-portion converging from the mid-portion. Side flanges of each shell are formed substantially over the entire length of the shell, and the width of the flanges is enlarged in both the fore- and aft-portions. The housing has two coupling flanges welded respectively at the fore- and aft-ends of the housing both to the outer periphery of the shells and to the ends of the side flanges.

  • Patent number: 4208361
Abstract: An automobile is provided with an altitude compensated fuel feed means which comprises a fuel feed circuit with an air bleed orifice, an independent additional air supply passage leading to the fuel feed circuit, an air bleed control valve for opening the additional air supply passage, and a control unit with a manually operable part. The manually operable part is disposed in a passenger compartment. Operative interconnection between the control unit and the air bleed control valve is such that manually operating the manually operable part will cause the air bleed control valve to be opened to permit the entry of additional air into the fuel feed circuit, thereby making altitude compensation of the fuel feed means easy.

  • Patent number: 4083184
Abstract: A reed valve device having two reeds capable of selectively closing and opening the corresponding openings formed in the device is snugly fitted in a casing through an elastomeric sealing member without using any other connecting means. The casing communicates with an exhaust conduit system of an internal combustion engine so that the reed valve device functions to intermittently admit air into the exhaust conduit system by the pulsations of the exhaust gas under pressure passing through the exhaust conduit system.
