  • Patent number: 4819889
Abstract: A magnetic tape cassette having a four-piece structure comprising a pair of top and bottom cover plates having substantially the same construction, an intermediate frame arranged between the two cover plates of which a front portion is partially cut-out, and a tape guide block which is arranged in the cut-out front portion of the intermediate frame and arranged between the two cover plates. The tape guide block is accurately aligned with the two cover plates by aligning means, thereby preventing occurrences of irregular tape run and off-track or out-of phase recording or play.

  • Patent number: 4812936
Abstract: In a magnetic tape cassette having a housing and a cover mounted thereon, contaminants are prevented from passing into the housing interior at the point where the cover is mounted on the cassette, and thereby prevented from reaching the magnetic tape mounted in the interior of the housing. This is attained by partitioning an interior of the housing adjacent a wall portion thereof, into an outer contaminant-receiving compartment at which the cover is pivotally mounted, and an inner tape-receiving compartment. The partition prevents any communication between these two respective compartments.

  • Patent number: 4771351
Abstract: A tape cassette has a case with upper and lower halves and an open space at the front thereof. A magnetic tape housed in the case is wound around a pair of reels. A brake is slidably mounted on the inner surface of the lower half of the case to prevent the reels from being rotated. Part of a spring is attached to the brake. The spring has free ends and urges the brake in a direction. A device for positioning the spring includes a partition wall on the inner surface of the lower half of the case which partitions the open space from the inside of the case. An independent abutment member on the partition wall abuts the free ends of the spring.

  • Patent number: 4754938
Abstract: A magnetic tape cassette comprising a pair of top and bottom cover plates having substantially the same construction, an intermediate frame arranged between the two cover plates, and a tape guide block arranged between the two cover plates in their front portions. The tape guide block is provided with pairs of tape guide members such as pins on both sides of a head, with a coefficient of friction of the pair of guide members near the head being smaller than that of the pair of guide members away from the head. The tape guide block is accurately aligned with the two cover plates.

  • Patent number: 4747007
Abstract: A tape cassette has a housing and a pressure pad apparatus mounted within the housing for bringing a magnetic tape into direct contact with a magnetic head. The pressure pad apparatus includes a pad, a spring joined to the pad for imparting a pushing force to the magnetic head, and a holding member mounted within the housing for holding the spring at two points spaced from each other. The effective length of the spring is greater than the distance between the two holding points of the holding member.

  • Patent number: 4742418
Abstract: A tape cassette comprises a case including upper and lower halves, each having a pair of parallel side walls and a back wall extending between the side walls, a pair of reels housed in the case on which magnetic tape is wound, and a brake member freely slidably mounted on the inner face of the lower case half, the brake member having a pair of legs which slide on the inner face of the lower case half along the side walls thereof, movable to a position wherein rotation of each of the reels is prevented. A control device is provided for limiting the movement of each of the legs of the brake member in the direction of the width of the case. The control device includes members each of which projects from a respective one of the side walls of the upper case half and is located adjacent to one face of a respective one of the legs of the control device which is opposite to the face thereof which slides on the inner face of the lower case half.

  • Patent number: 4737875
Abstract: A magnetic tape cassette including a protective cover pivotally mounted to the front side of a housing is constructed such that damage to the protective cover, resulting from an undesired contact of the cover by positioning pins of the cassette recording/playback apparatus when the positioning pins are inserted into positioning openings of the tape cassette, is prevented by providing cutouts in opposite end corner portions of the elongated planar main portion and arm portions of the cover.

  • Patent number: 4727445
Abstract: A resiliently-mounted protective cover mounted on a magnetic tape cassette is controllably moved between exposed and protected positions along substantially the same path of movement during each use of the cassette. Blocking walls are provided in the interior of the cassette for preventing contaminants from reaching and contacting the magnetic tape therein.

  • Patent number: 4720055
Abstract: A tape clamp mechanism for the reel hub of a tape cassette has a clamp block for clamping a tape to the reel hub. The clamp block has a main block having spaced opposite ends, an outer curved surface and an inner surface corresponding to the outer circumferential curved surface of the reel hub. A first pair of prongs project from the inner surfaces of both ends of the clamp block. A bridge member is provided on the inner surface of the main block. A second pair of prongs projects from the bridge member. The reel hub has a recess for receiving the clamp block. The recess has cavities for interacting with the first and second pairs of prongs of the clamp block. The clamp block is settable in the recess of the reel hub by a snap mounting or friction fit mounting method.
