  • Publication number: 20110254320
Abstract: A rocker includes a lower wall portion, which is an inclined surface inclined downward toward the inside of a vehicle body, on the lower surface of the rocker, and a floor panel is bonded to the lower wall portion. Accordingly, when an in-plane tensile force is applied to the floor panel the in-plane tensile force is applied not in a direction where the bonding between the rocker and the floor panel is separated but in a direction where the bonding between the rocker and the floor panel is shorn. As a result, it may be possible to improve bonding strength. Further, a corner portion is formed at the end portion of the inclined surface facing the floor panel, and a frictional force is generated at the corner portion between the floor panel and the rocker. Therefore, a load, which is applied to the floor panel, can be distributed to the rocker.

  • Patent number: 8011695
Abstract: There is provided an underbody structure capable of exactly distributing and transmitting a front collision load to front and back skeleton portions of an underbody even in a case where the front collision load to be input from the front of a vehicle is concentrated on one side in a vehicle width direction. When a power unit 1 moves rearward due to an offset collision load of a right front face of a vehicle, a right connecting arm 7G of a sub-frame 7, an engine rear mount 7E, and right and left stoppers 7H and 7I receive an offset collision load from the power unit 1, thereby suppressing generation of an unintended rotative force in the power unit 1. The sub-frame 7 distributedly transmits an offset collision load to a rear portion 4A of a right front side member 4, and right and left tunnel reinforcements 5 and 5 mainly through four paths of a right beam 7D, a right load transmission beam 7J2, and right and left load transmission beams 7J3 and 7J4 of an intermediate portion.

  • Publication number: 20110133515
Abstract: In a center pillar structure (1), the strength of a center pillar (10) is locally low at a weak portion (17) and at a weak portion (18). Thus, when a vehicle is hit on the side, the center pillar (10) bends at the weak portion (17) and at the weak portion (18), and the other vehicle advances substantially horizontally. This can reduce the bending moment generated in the center pillar (10) due to advancement of the other vehicle, so it is possible to control deformation of the center pillar (10) in the event of a side collision while ensuring the strength of the center pillar (10).

  • Publication number: 20100314905
Abstract: A bulkhead and a bulkhead are provided in a rocker so that a portion of the rocker, which portion is subject to bending due to buckling, is positioned between the bulkheads. If the portion of the rocker is bent due to buckling, for example, at the time of vehicle collision, a bulkhead is caught between the bulkheads, and absorbs a load applied to the bulkheads. In this way, when the rocker is deformed, the load is absorbed by the bulkhead.

  • Publication number: 20100096887
Abstract: A member of a vehicle frame structure includes an extension portion that extends in a longitudinal direction and a kick portion positioned behind, and below the extension portion. Buckling lines are formed in parallel with each other in the extension portion, and each of the buckling lines is inclined such that a lower end is positioned ahead of an upper end in a side view. If a collision load is applied from a front side of a vehicle at the time of vehicle collision, the extension portion is deformed along the buckling lines, and a front end of the extension portion is displaced downward. Therefore, a vertical offset between the front end of the extension portion and the kick portion is reduced, thereby reducing a bending moment applied to the kick portion. Accordingly, the required yield strength of the kick portion can be set to a lower value.

  • Patent number: 6209948
Abstract: A vehicle body front structure and an impact absorbing method thereof, in which an impact force applied to front side members is efficiently absorbed by an intended deformation of a reinforcing member. A part of the impact force applied to the front side members (12) is received by supporting forces in axial directions of a dash cross member (20) and a pillar brace (22). A recess (24) is provided in the dash cross member (20) in the portion thereof connected with the front side member (12). A recess (26) is provided in the pillar brace (22) in the portion thereof connected with the front side member (12). Due to the dash cross member (20) and the pillar brace (22) compressively deforming in the axial directions starting at these recesses (24), (26), the dash cross member (20) and the pillar brace (22) absorb impact force which is applied to the front side members (12) from the front of the vehicle.
