    Abstract: A projector includes an image forming device, a projection lens for projecting an image produced by the image forming device, and an external case which accommodates the image forming device and at least a part of the projection lens and has an opening through which a light emission end of the projection lens is exposed. The projection lens has a lens barrel and a plurality of lenses equipped within the lens barrel. The lens barrel has a fixed part and a movable part. A turn table for shifting the movable part of the lens barrel in the direction of the optical axis of the projection lens is provided. The direction of the rotation axis of the turn table is substantially perpendicular to the optical axis of the projection lens. The top surface of the turn table is exposed through the outer surface of the external case.

    Abstract: A temporary checking device is provided that works in conjunction with elements of a vehicle hinge that remain in the vehicle's final configuration. The hinge includes a hinge pin rotatably connecting a door hinge bracket to a pillar hinge bracket. The checking device includes a spring portion that is disposed between the door hinge bracket and the pillar hinge bracket. The spring portion is compressed during movement of the door hinge bracket relative to the pillar hinge bracket from either of two rest positions. The spring portion urges the vehicle door affixed thereto back into one of the rest positions, thus allowing manufacturing operations such as painting, etc., to be performed on the vehicle.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a method for preparing a soft vegetable material which is suitably used for the production of a food or a meal for, in particular, the aged persons and which holds the shape of a particular ingredient of the food. The method comprises the steps of: (1) freezing a vegetable material and then thawing the frozen vegetable material to thus form a thawed vegetable material; (2) immersing the thawed vegetable material in a dispersion containing a pectin-decomposition enzyme or a cellulose-decomposition enzyme under reduced pressure; and (3) subjecting the vegetable material, which has been immersed in the dispersion and then thawed, to a heat-treatment at a temperature for a time sufficient for deactivating the pectin-decomposition enzyme or a cellulose-decomposition enzyme. Moreover, the thawing treatment in the foregoing step (1) may likewise be carried out simultaneous with the step of the enzyme-impregnation treatment under reduced pressure.

    Abstract: Metal materials made of iron (Fe) or the like are butted together at a joint, and a probe of a rotary tool is inserted into the joint. The rotary tool is rotated while being moved in the lengthwise direction of the joint, whereby the metallographic structure of the joint is stirred, and the metal materials are joined. While the rotary tool is being rotated and moved, liquid CO2 is supplied to the joint and the rotary tool. Electromagnetic valves are suitably opened and closed so that nozzles discharge the liquid CO2 from the rear in the movement direction of the rotary tool. Supplying the liquid CO2 to the joint and the rotary tool reduces wear of the rotary tool, and also increases the joining strength of the joint.

    Abstract: In a first step, friction stir welding is performed, while supplying a filler into a joining portion, in order to prevent the coarsening of crystal grains of metal materials in a subsequent fusion processing. Then, a fusion processing such as MIG welding is performed. The filler to be added to the joining portion includes a substance that does not chemically react with the metal materials and has a melting point higher than a melting point of the metal materials and a substance in which a misfit with the metal materials is within ±15%. As a result, the coarsening of crystal grains by the fusion processing is inhibited and the joint strength can be increased.

The sensor wheel includes a GMR element and a magnetizing portion which is arranged around the GMR element, and the rotational angle is detected by making two turns of the steering shaft as one cycle of the steering angle signal based on a change in resistance value of the GMR element obtained by changing a magnetic field direction according to a rotation of the magnetizing portion.
