  • Publication number: 20090059058
Abstract: In an image pickup apparatus of the present invention, an image of an object is picked up and an image signal representing the object is continuously captured so that a through-the-lens image is displayed based on the captured image signal, and then a display area for displaying focusing information is composited into the through-the-lens image of a displaying device. In addition, based on the captured image signal, an automatic focus adjustment is performed to maximize the contrast of the object, and the result of the focus adjustment is detected. Based on the detected focusing condition, focusing information which is composited into the display area is changed. The focusing information includes at least focusing information of an unfocused condition and focusing information of a focused condition. This enables information that a desired area of an object became focused to be displayed to a user in a manner easy to understand.

  • Patent number: 7492412
Abstract: A solid-state image pickup apparatus includes a low-sensitivity decision section made up of an arithmetic circuit and a data decision circuit. During RAW mode recording operation, the arithmetic circuit executes sensitivity correction on low-sensitivity pixel data. The data decision circuit compares the low-sensitivity pixel data thus corrected with high-sensitivity pixel data to thereby produce map data pixel by pixel. Subsequently, pixel data are omitted on the basis of an embedding condition assigned to basic data set beforehand and the map data, whereby recording data a regenerated. The recording data are then recorded in a recording medium together with the map data and high-sensitivity pixel data.

  • Publication number: 20080284901
Abstract: In an automatic focus adjusting method for adjusting the focus based on image signals in a preset focus detection area, the face is detected from an image, and the detected face area is set as the focus detection area in a front-light scene. On the other hand, when a backlight scene is identified, an area in which the detected face area is reduced is set as the focus detection area. This enables to control the focus so that the face is accurately focused on without being affected by the contrast of the contour of the face in a backlight scene (contrast of the contour of the face is strong in the backlight scene).

  • Patent number: 7446356
Abstract: A CCD image sensor includes photodiodes, vertical transfer CCDs for transferal of signal charge of the photodiodes, and a light shielding layer for protection of the vertical transfer CCDs from light. The light shielding layer covers over recesses disposed above the photodiodes, and each of the recesses has an opening on the bottom to expose a light receiving surface of the photodiode. A light diffusion layer is formed on the light shielding layer in each recess. Since the incident light oblique to an optical axis of a microlens is diffused by the light diffusion layer, the vertical CCDs hardly receive the light coming from around the edges of the opening.

  • Patent number: 7437681
Abstract: Date and time information concerning image files included in the folder is obtained, a time range from the oldest image to the newest image is calculated, and the time range is displayed with folder information. For example, data on shot dates and times recorded as associated information concerning the images or time stamps of the files are used to calculate the time range, and the date range is displayed on a folder icon or on a tab portion of the folder icon. Moreover, a file list displayed last time is stored, the stored file list is compared with a current file list, and only if the both file lists are different from each other, the date and time information is obtained for a different file to recalculate the time range. Thus, the user can infer images included in the folder to some extent and easily retrieve a desired image.

  • Publication number: 20080204581
Abstract: When a selected target color space for a digital camera is changed, the colors of a final image, i.e., the colors of an image in the changed target color space, are predicted from an image that is displayed on a display unit of the digital camera. For example, if the target color space is changed to an sRGB color space and the display unit has an AdobeRGB color space, then an image in the target color space (the sRGB color space), which is generated from a captured image by a signal processor, is converted by a matrix calculator into an image in the AdobeRGB color space, and then the image is supplied to the display unit. Hence, the colors of the final image can be predicted from the colors of the image displayed on the display unit.
