Patent number: 10044544Abstract: The disclosure relates to a new Alamouti-based mapping scheme for use in a real field FBMC modulation system which can reduce FBMC-intrinsic interference and allows approaching optimal performance. The Alamouti-based mapping scheme proposed herein can be used for implementing space-time or space-frequency block codes (STBC/SFBC) codes. The proposed Alamouti-based mapping scheme suggests specific patterns to negate/invert signs of the modulation symbols of Alamouti pairs in the Alamouti mapping. By using these special patterns of sign negation, the FBMC-intrinsic interference can be reduced significantly so that it may become possible to use conventional Alamouti demapping/decoding procedures on the receiving side with an overall acceptable performance in real life systems.Type: GrantFiled: June 19, 2017Date of Patent: August 7, 2018Assignee: Huawei Technologies Duesseldorf GmbHInventors: Zhao Zhao, Tao Ding, Malte Schellmann

Publication number: 20180214838Abstract: A reversible cycle phase change liquid comprises a polar working fluid, nanoparticles of a material having a density greater than 3000 kg/m3, and a controllable gel. The gel is switchable between hydrophilic and hydrophobic phases by application of a phase change driver. The gel coats the nanoparticles to a first thickness when the gel is in the hydrophilic phase and is swollen by the polar working fluid, and coats the nanoparticles to a reduced thickness when in the hydrophobic phase. The coated nanoparticles form clusters, or comprise individual unclustered nanoparticles, when the gel is in the hydrophilic phase, and form larger clusters when the gel is in the hydrophobic phase. In embodiments aggregation of the nanoparticles into clusters is self-limiting because of electrical charges on the nanoparticles, such that when the gel is in the hydrophobic phase the clusters remain soluble within the liquid.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 28, 2016Publication date: August 2, 2018Inventors: Jeremy J. Patent number: 9983595Abstract: A method and apparatus for self-calibrating control of gas flow. The gas flow rate is initially set by controlling, to a high degree of precision, the amount of opening of a flow restriction, where the design of the apparatus containing the flow restriction lends itself to achieving high precision. The gas flow rate is then measured by a pressure rate-of-drop upstream of the flow restriction, and the amount of flow restriction opening is adjusted, if need be, to obtain exactly the desired flow.Type: GrantFiled: November 2, 2016Date of Patent: May 29, 2018Assignee: PIVOTAL SYSTEMS CORPORATIONInventors: Adam J. Patent number: 9400004Abstract: An apparatus to measure the transient response of a mass flow controller (MFC). The size of a variable orifice, upstream of the MFC, is controlled such that the pressure between the orifice and the MFC is held constant during the entire time that the MFC is going through its transient response. The known relationship between the size of the orifice and the flow through it allows a determination of the transient response of the MFC.Type: GrantFiled: November 29, 2011Date of Patent: July 26, 2016Assignee: PIVOTAL SYSTEMS CORPORATIONInventors: Joseph R. Patent number: 9229258Abstract: A to-be-cut liquid crystal mother panel includes a TFT mother substrate forming at least one voltage-applying area onto which an external voltage is applied, a CF mother substrate arranged corresponding to the TFT mother substrate, and a pressure-reduction member located between the CF mother substrate and the TFT mother substrate; the pressure-reduction member corresponds to the voltage-applying area for reducing an adsorptive force between the voltage-applying area and an end portion of the CF mother substrate corresponding to the voltage-applying area. The pressure-reduction member increases the surface roughness of the end portion, avoids a vacuum state formed between the end portion and the voltage-applying area, reduces the adsorptive force between the end portion and the voltage-applying area, and allows the splitting device to separate the end portion from the TFT mother substrate easily after the liquid crystal mother panel is cut.Type: GrantFiled: December 5, 2012Date of Patent: January 5, 2016Assignee: SHENZHEN CHINA STAR OPTOELECTRONICS TECHNOLOGY CO., LTD.Inventors: Tao Song, Tao Ding, Tao Ma, Guodong Zhao, Ming Liu, Yijun Liu
