  • Publication number: 20100061926
Abstract: Auxiliary heating systems that can supply heat to a hydrogen storage material, which may comprise at least one hydridable material, located inside a hydrogen storage tank have been developed. These auxiliary heating systems involve the catalytic combustion of hydrogen and oxygen in a catalytic heater to produce heat and combustion products. The heat produced from the catalytic combustion may then be transferred, either indirectly or directly, to the hydrogen storage material to stimulate the release of additional desorbable hydrogen that may be stored in the at least one hydrdidable material.

  • Publication number: 20070178042
Abstract: A hydrogen storage material based on sodium alanate contains aluminum in excess of the stoichiometric aluminum content of sodium aluminum tetrahydride. A particulate mixture of sodium alanates, aluminum, and a suitable metal-containing catalyst readily yields, upon heating of the mixture, its hydrogen content for delivery to a hydrogen-using device. The excess aluminum facilitates the sorption of hydrogen, minimizes the amount of necessary catalyst, and improves packing of the particulate mixture and heat transfer to and from the mixture.

  • Patent number: 7223728
Abstract: Thiazolidinedione (TZD) and its pharmacologically active derivatives can be used, in combination with agonists of glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), to treat non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus, optionally with other therapies, by improving glycemic control while minimizing side effects, such as heart hypertrophy and elevated fed-state plasma glucose, which are associate with both TZD and GLP-1 monotherapies. Thus, the co-administration of TZD and GLP-1 helps regulate glucose homeostasis in Type II diabetic patients.
