  • Patent number: 6453716
Abstract: Elements with heads confronting each other are blanked out of two opposite sides of an elongated metal sheet. The differences between thicknesses of the elements at a measurement point at or near necks of the elements and measurement points at ears of the elements are averaged, and a distance between corners of the metal sheet and a counter load of counter punches are established in order to keep the averages in an allowable range. When elements are blanked out of the metal sheet with the distance and the counter load thus established, even if the metal sheet is laterally displaced out of position, a belt assembly made up of the elements blanked out of the two opposite sides of the metal sheet and mixed at a ratio of about 1 to 1 poses no problems because variations in the thicknesses of the elements blanked out of one of the two opposite sides of the metal sheet and variations in the thicknesses of the elements blanked out of the other of the two opposite sides of the metal sheet cancel each other.

  • Patent number: 6341905
Abstract: A recording apparatus has an automatic feed device for feeding recording media one by one, and a pair of carriage rollers for carrying a recording medium P thus fed, to a recording section. The recording apparatus is constructed to be used in a plurality of recording modes. In the recording apparatus, a registration method of the recording medium P to the recording section is selected depending upon a recording mode selected. The apparatus of this structure solved the prior-art problems that a long time was necessary from sheet feed to recording start in the case of registration of the recording medium P by the nip between the carriage roller pair, so as to be a bottleneck in increase of recording speed and that disturbance of the image became prominent due to registration deviation in the case of registration at the side of the recording medium.

  • Publication number: 20010050006
Abstract: A method of and an apparatus for compressing the grinding sludge, which is effective to compress the grinding sludge to provide an intended rigid briquette even though the grinding sludge contains ground chips of hardened iron and/or steel materials and an oil-based coolant and also to facilitate reuse of the briquette (B1) as material for production of steel. The grinding sludge containing the oil-based coolant and hardened component parts such as steel component parts that are used in bearings is compressed. To this end, the grinding sludge produced from a grinding line (1) is filtered by a filtering unit (4) to provide a concentrated sludge which is subsequently compressed by squeezing by a briquetting machine (5) to provide the briquette (B1). The briquette B1 so obtained can be reused as steel material. The coolant separated from the grinding sludge during filtering and squeezing is returned to the grinding line (1) through recovery passages (7, 8).

  • Publication number: 20010049314
Abstract: An element includes a body having a thin region in its substantially half lower portion and a head joined to the body by a neck. When the element is blanked out of a metal sheet, an excess amount of metal produced by pressing the substantially half lower portion of the body under a pressing load applied by a forming punch and a counter load applied by a counterpunch flows from the body into the metal sheet positioned on opposite side of the neck, and a metal flow is produced into laterally spaced ends of the neck. After the metal flows have occurred, the element is fully blanked out of the metal sheet by the forming punch. In the element, the head has relatively thick laterally spaced ends, and the head and the body have respective thicknesses equal to or smaller than the thickness of the head. The body includes a substantially half upper portion exclusive of the thin region, and has laterally spaced side end regions positioned on opposite side of a lower region of the neck.
