  • Patent number: 5748245
Abstract: An encoding apparatus includes an input device which inputs sample information data, and a block forming device which forms blocks of the input information data. A detector detects a code quantity of encoded data on a unit basis of a predetermined number of encoded blocks, and a one-dimension processor processes the encoded data of the predetermined number of blocks. A deletion device deletes the encoded data in accordance with the one-dimension processed encoded data and the output of the detector.

  • Patent number: 5631914
Abstract: An error correcting apparatus including a syndrome calculator for calculating syndromes from input data added with an error correction code, a data memory which is connected in parallel with the syndrome calculator for storing the input data, a syndrome memory to store syndromes calculated by the syndrome calculator, and an error correction processor for executing error correction of the data in the data memory by using the syndromes stored in the syndrome memory. The error correction code is provided in both first and second directions when data is two-dimensionally arranged, and the error correction processor obtains values in which the result of an arithmetic operation for error correction in at least one of the first and second directions is added to syndromes in the other direction. An error position within the input data is detected and corrected again on the basis of the values.

  • Patent number: 5559813
Abstract: A digitally coded signal is encoded with an error correction code and an error detection code. When the signal is decoded, the error correction code is used to correct errors. The error detection code is then used to discriminate whether the error correction process has operated properly, and if it has not operated properly then interpolation is used to avoid remaining errors. Preferably when the data is encoded the error detection code is provided before the error correction code is provided.

  • Patent number: 5381422
Abstract: A device receives a code train including information codes and first and second error correction codes which were provided by using the information codes, and then corrects code errors of the information codes. A first correcting circuit corrects code errors of the information codes in accordance with the first error correction check code, and a second correcting circuit corrects code errors of the information codes in accordance with the second error correction check code by deciding whether uncorrectable code errors are present or not in each predetermined number of information codes and generating flag information. The flag information is amended using the first error correction check code, and code errors of the information codes are concealed on the basis of the amended flag information.

  • Patent number: 5070402
Abstract: An image information transmission apparatus of this invention encodes and transmits image information. An image information signal of one frame consisting of a plurality of pixel data is divided into a plurality of blocks each consisting of a predetermined number of pixel data. At least two reference value data associated with a dynamic range of levels of the pixel data constituting each of the divided blocks, and distribution state data associated with a distribution state thereof are formed. Each pixel data constituting the block is encoded on the basis of the formed reference value data and the formed distribution state data to obtain encoded data. A transmission data series is formed and transmitted using the formed reference value data, the formed distribution state data, and the encoded data as transmission units. Therefore, the image information signal can be highly effectively transmitted with minimum image quality degradation caused by encoding.

  • Patent number: 4953019
Abstract: An image signal encoding apparatus for encoding an image signal in which image of one picture plane consisting of a plurality of pixel data are divided into a plurality of blocks each consisting of a predetermined number of pixel data. For each of the blocks, a pair of reference value data regarding the maximum and minimum values of the levels of the pixel data constructing the block are formed. On the basis of the formed reference value data, encoded date is formed by encoding each of the pixel data of the block. Decoded data is formed by decoding the encoded data formed on the basis of the reference value data. By comparing each of the pixel data of the block with the decoded data, errors are detected. The reference value data are corrected in accordance with the result of the detection. Thus, the encoding errors are reduced and it is possible to perform the encoding with less deterioration in picture quality of the image signal.
