  • Patent number: 7130152
Abstract: Closer spacing of elements for writing multiple tracks onto a magnetic media increases the areal density of stored information. A thin film multiple track recording head includes recording gaps in a plane parallel with the head substrate. This configuration allows for flexible placement of the elements within the head, improved control of recording gap geometry, and alternating azimuth gap angles.

  • Publication number: 20060204547
Abstract: A method for decreasing the level of restenosis following a stent placement medical intervention involves the continuous administration of a dose of an anti-restenotic agent, such as Pimecrolimus, from the stent to vascular tissue in need of treatment in a controlled and extended drug release profile for a period of at least 45 days in vivo. The in vivo release profile is determined by in vivo animal experiments involving implanting a series of stents in animals, explanting the stents from the animals at selected time points, and extracting remaining drug from the explanted stents.

  • Publication number: 20060204546
Abstract: A method for decreasing the level of restenosis following a stent placement medical intervention involves the continuous administration of a dose of an immunosuppressant or anti-inflammatory agent from reservoirs in a stent to vascular tissue in need of treatment in a controlled, two phase drug release profile. It is envisioned that the vascular tissue in need of treatment is arterial tissue, specifically coronary arterial tissue. The agent or drug can be the calcineurin inhibitor Pimecrolimus. The drug can be held within reservoirs in the stent in a drug delivery matrix comprised of the drug and a bioresorbable polymeric material and optionally additives to regulate the drug release.

  • Publication number: 20060122697
Abstract: An expandable medical device includes a plurality of elongated struts, forming a substantially cylindrical device which is expandable from a cylinder having a first diameter to a cylinder having a second diameter. A plurality of different beneficial agents can be loaded into different openings within the struts for delivery to the tissue. For treatment of conditions such as restenosis, different beneficial agents are loaded into different openings in the device to address different biological processes involved in restenosis and are delivered at different release kinetics matched to the biological process treated. The different beneficial agents may also be used to address different diseases, such as restenosis and acute myocardial infarction from the same drug delivery device.

  • Publication number: 20060095816
Abstract: A test clocking scheme that separates the clock driving the functional logic and the memory from the clock driving the test logic and the memory. In other words, the test clocking scheme separates the memory functional clock from the memory test clock into two clock paths. The test clocking scheme provides for the ability to separately shut off either the memory functional clock source or the memory test clock source, provides that less power is required during production testing, and provides that simulation time is reduced during design verification because the functional logic is not clocked.

  • Patent number: 6806786
Abstract: Techniques to select the proper frequency band for use in a PLL from among multiple frequency bands of a multi-band VCO. The PLL comprises a detector, a loop filter, the multi-band VCO, and a control unit. The detector receives a first signal to be locked to and a second signal that is related to a VCO signal and provides a detector output. The loop filter filters the detector output to provide a control signal. The multi-band VCO selects one of the multiple frequency bands based on a select signal and provides the VCO signal at a frequency determined by the control signal. The control unit derives the select signal for the multi-band VCO based on information extracted from a third signal (e.g., a filtered version of the control signal) and a timing signal from a timer unit.

  • Patent number: 6708272
Abstract: An encryption system permits end-to-end encryption of information over an untrusted interconnection network. The information encryption system includes at least one client for processing information. The system also includes at least one storage device for holding the information. At least one key server provides a data key for encrypting and decrypting the information. An encryption module is associated with each client. Each encryption module has a first processor accessing a first memory and a second processor accessing a second memory different from the first memory. The first processor communicates with the associated client. The second processor communicates with the storage device. The first processor communicates with the second processor through a dedicated channel. The second processor obtains the data key from the key server. Information is received from the first processor over the dedicated channel and encrypted using the data key. The encrypted information is then stored on the storage device.

  • Patent number: 6658526
Abstract: This data storage subsystem creates multiple virtual storage devices on demand, which are available to any and all of the system's host data processors. The subsystem utilizes a plurality of tape devices and automated tape libraries with the tape devices connected to a plurality of data processors via a high-speed network. A set of software components, the Network Storage Manager (NSM) controls all system operations. Depending upon the requested storage performance, one or more tape devices are assigned to a virtual device. Data stripping across multiple tape devices allows the storage bandwidth of a virtual device to be changed on demand. The overall capacity and performance of the subsystem is scalable by adding or removing storage devices. The NSM system controller contains a plurality of software elements including: Resource Allocation, Resource Configuration, Resource Management, and Security Management modules.
