  • Patent number: 12219475
Abstract: Within many applications impulse radio based ultra-wideband (IR-UWB) transmission offers significant benefits for very short range high data rate communications when compared with existing standards and protocols. In many of these applications the main design goals are very low power consumption and very low complexity design for easy integration and cost reduction. Digitally programmable IR-UWB transmitters using an on-off keying modulation scheme on a 0.13 microns CMOS process operating on 1.2V supply and yielding power consumption as low as 0.9 mW at a 10 Mbps data rate with dynamic power control are enabled. The IR-UWB transmitters support new frequency hopping techniques providing more efficient spectrum usage and dynamic allocation of the spectrum when transmitting in highly congested frequency bands. Biphasic scrambling is also introduced for spectral line reduction.

  • Patent number: 12184933
Abstract: Systems and associated methods are described for providing recording of a blacked out media content item. A system receives a request from a first user device associated with a profile to record a media content item scheduled to broadcast on a second user device (different from the first user device) associated with the profile, at a second location. The system determines that the media content item is subject to a blackout during a blackout period within a blackout region. The system determines that the first user device and the second user device are associated with the same profile and that the first user device is at a first location outside the blackout region. The system then accesses the media content item for recording on the second user device during the blackout period. The system further transmits the recorded media content item to the first user device after expiry of the blackout period.

  • Publication number: 20240428045
Abstract: A system captures and utilizes expert knowledge in artificial intelligence. The system includes a knowledge capture module for extracting expert knowledge from subject matter experts in a conversational format and a knowledge management module for cataloging and summarizing the extracted knowledge. The system also includes a digital subject matter expert (dSME) module for ingesting the cataloged knowledge and using it to guide users in building AI models. A chatbot interacts with a user and selects the appropriate dSME module that is relevant to the user request. The system attempts to answer the user request based on the dSME module. If the dSME module lacks knowledge to solve the problem, the system uses a set of tools, for example, internet based search engine to solve the problem.

  • Publication number: 20240419885
Abstract: A method of film thickness modeling includes receiving optical data of a sample having a top layer and at least one underlying layer. First simulation data are obtained by inputting the optical data into a multi-layer model. When a GOF of the first simulation data is below a threshold, a simulated thickness is obtained by inputting the optical data into a top-layer model that is substantially unaffected by the at least one underlying layer. A starting point of the thickness of the multi-layer model is adjusted based on the simulated thickness. Second simulation data are obtained by inputting the optical data into the multi-layer model. When the GOF of the second simulation data is below the threshold, the starting point of the thickness in the multi-layer model is re-adjusted, and third simulation data are obtained by inputting the optical data into the multi-layer model.

  • Patent number: 12139276
Abstract: A system and method for transferring energy and mass (supplies) in low-gravity environments. The system comprises a launcher and a receiver. The launcher hurls a capsule at a high velocity such that, when caught by the receiver, a portion of the kinetic energy of the launched capsule is converted to potential energy and stored. The stored energy is used at the receiver end for applications such as living habitats, mining operations, life-support systems, etc. In some instances, a portion of the initial energy is used to lob the capsule back, if desired. Launchers and receivers can be set up in different spatial configurations in a low-gravity environment such as in a circle with a centrally located launcher, a launcher downstream of a chain of receivers, or other configurations.
