Patent number: 6293488Abstract: A coordinate transformation apparatus (138) in an aircraft-based missile guidance and tracking system for adjusting aircraft and missile position signals for a roll angle about the line of sight in the guidance and tracking system sight unit (40) caused by roll of the aircraft subsequent to firing of the missile. The apparatus (138) incorporates analog to digital converter means (140), (144), (156), (160) and (180) to convert the analog aircraft and missile position signals to digital signals for input into a microprocessor (168). The microprocessor (168) computes the roll angle as well as a change in roll angle over time around the line of sight of the sight unit (40) and subsequently adjusts the digital signals to compensate for the computed roll angle and change in roll angle. Digital to analog converter means (182), (186) and (190) convert adjusted digital signals to analog signals and output the adjusted analog signals for computation of missile guidance signals by the system.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 1994Date of Patent: September 25, 2001Assignee: Raytheon CompanyInventors: Michael L. Patent number: 5990939Abstract: A video demultiplexing interface (70) is used in a missile tracking system (10) employing a missile (12) with a thermal beacon (24). A target designator (40) defines a boresight from a missile firing location, such as an aircraft, to a target. The closed-loop tracking system (10) employs a forward looking infrared (FLIR) sensor (52) to track the displacement of the thermal beacon (24) from the boresight and generates a correction signal related to such displacement. The video demultiplexing interface (70) transforms serial multiplexed video signals, which are output by the FLIR sensor (52) and contain a field with M rows and L columns of pixels, into a demultiplexed parallel video signal containing N selectable adjacent horizontal rows of pixels (where N is less than M). A video thermal tracker (58) selects the N adjacent horizontal rows of pixels and generates azimuth and elevation error signals which are transmitted to the missile (12).Type: GrantFiled: September 28, 1995Date of Patent: November 23, 1999Assignee: Raytheon CompanyInventors: Richard J. Patent number: 5584551Abstract: A refrigerator cabinet includes a metal outer case with top and side walls. A narrow front face projects inward from the walls and a stiffening flange, positioned rearward of the face, projects inward of the walls substantially further than the face. A pair of open front liners are received within and spaced from the outer case and from each other. The liners have top and side walls with distal edges located rearward of the stiffening flange. An elongated plastic breaker strip extends between the outer case front face and the liner top and outer side walls. The breaker strip front wall overlaps the outer case front face and extends inward to a position inward of the inner edge of the stiffening flange. The breaker strip side wall extends rearward from the breaker strip front wall to a position overlapping the top and outer side walls of the liners.Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 1995Date of Patent: December 17, 1996Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventor: Thomas E. Patent number: 5542845Abstract: A dental syringe safety sheath having a modified duckbill valve for minimizing cross-contamination between dental patients is provided. The sheath includes a generally tubular body member having a nozzle engaging portion and a discharge portion. The nozzle engaging portion is configured to substantially fit over and cover the nozzle of a dental syringe having a discharge orifice. The discharge portion defines a fluid passageway having an inlet adjacent the discharge orifice and outlet downstream therefrom. The fluid passageway progressively narrows in cross-section between the inlet and the outlet to form a substantially wedge-shaped cavity terminating in a slit disposed between a pair of opposing sealing lips. The cross-section of the sealing lips between the ends of the slit is wider than the corresponding cross-section of the sealing lips at the lip margins.Type: GrantFiled: August 11, 1994Date of Patent: August 6, 1996Assignee: A.C. Patent number: 5522656Abstract: A mechanism for providing a biasing force in the desired directions at appropriate degrees of refrigerator door opening. An cam mounted to the door has a lateral wall with three interconnected linear sections joined with predetermined included angles. An arm is pivotally mounted in an aligned slot in the refrigerator housing and is spring biased into engagement with the cam. The arm and cam are arranged so that the arm exerts a strong door closing bias on the first cam section when the door is closed, exerts a greater door closing bias on the second section when the door is partially open and exerts a slight door opening bias on the third section when the door is more fully open.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 1995Date of Patent: June 4, 1996Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventor: Thomas E. Patent number: 5487239Abstract: A refrigerator has a cabinet with an outer case and an inner liner. The liner forms a storage compartment with an access opening. A cabinet face portion surrounds the opening and a door selectively closes the compartment. The door includes a flange which overlaps the face portion and a gasket mounted on the flange engages face portion. The gasket is an elongated body of a co-extruded material and includes a base wall of a rigid material mounted on the door frame, a contact wall spaced from the base wall for sealing engagement with the face portion and a pair of side walls connecting the base and contact walls to form a hollow interior. The contact wall includes a pair of spaced apart elongated strips of more rigid material connected by an elongated strip of less rigid material. The less rigid strip has an elongated outward projecting bow shape. The side walls are indented in a "V" shape and the apex of the V has a reduced thickness.Type: GrantFiled: June 6, 1994Date of Patent: January 30, 1996Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventors: Thomas E. Patent number: 5370455Abstract: A storage module assembly for a refrigerator door having an outer shell and an inner liner. The liner includes a rear wall and a pair of side walls forming a recess. The side walls have vertically spaced apart, horizontally aligned pairs of module mounting bosses. Each boss includes top and bottom walls joined by side walls which diverge in the downward direction. Each module includes a bottom wall and side walls positionable adjacent the liner side walls. The module side walls include slots with horizontal portions open to the rear and vertical portions at their opposite ends. The vertical portions have downwardly diverging side walls and receive the bosses in a conforming overfitting manner. A module is mounted in the door by sliding the horizontal portions of the slots over the bosses and then moving the module downward to seat the bosses in the vertical portions.Type: GrantFiled: January 28, 1993Date of Patent: December 6, 1994Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventors: John A. Patent number: 5033636Abstract: A refrigerator liner of a vacuum formed plastic with a thickness of about 0.007" to 0.050" has each corner formed without crinkling when thermal insulation material is foamed against the outer surface of the liner. The non-crinkling of each corner of the refrigerator liner is accomplished through forming each of the corners with a flat surface having its periphery as a circle during vacuum forming of the refrigerator liner rather than with a spherical radius. This enables the flat surface to be placed in tension when moved against a corresponding flat surface of a foam plug by the pressure produced during foaming of the foamed thermal insulation material. This results in each corner having a central portion with a convex cross section and an outer portion surrounding the central portion and concave in cross section whereby it does not appear to be crinkled.Type: GrantFiled: January 18, 1991Date of Patent: July 23, 1991Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventor: Thomas E. Jenkins
