  • Patent number: 7735418
Abstract: A printing unit, which is a part of a multi-color printing press, has a plurality of double printing units which are arranged vertically one above the other and consist of two printing groups forming a double print position. The printing group cylinders are mounted together in a central stand section. Inking units, which are associated with the printing groups, are mounted in outer stand sections. A distance between adjacent ones of these stand sections is adjustable. Printing and transfer cylinders of each printing group are coupled by a toothed gear wheel connection and are driven in pairs by a separate drive motor. The toothed gear wheels of all of the printing group cylinders are arranged in a common lubricant chamber which is formed by the central stand section and a cover. The inking systems have at least one separate drive motor, which is independent of the printing group cylinders.

  • Patent number: 7567780
Abstract: A data exchange system that exchanges data with a host device comprising controller and a host housing comprises at least one button assembly and a button reader system. The at least one button assembly comprises an encoder for storing data, a button coil, and a switch. Closing the switch forms an antenna circuit. The button reader system comprises a decoder and at least one reader coil defining at least one button position on the host housing. When the at least one button assembly is arranged at the at least one button position, the controller of the host device causes the decoder to obtain data from the encoder through the button coil and the reader coil when the switch is closed.

  • Publication number: 20090011324
Abstract: Known rechargeable batteries contain a cell that is received in a cell cup. For monitoring the temperature of the rechargeable batteries, PTC elements are used, but they increase the amount of space needed and can be accommodated in a battery pack only with difficulty. For the sake of simple accommodation, a rechargeable battery has a cell, which is received in a cell cup. According to the invention, for monitoring the temperature of the cell, a temperature-dependent element, in particular a PTC element, is provided that at least partially surrounds the cell cup. The invention is intended in particular for battery packs in which temperature monitoring is required.

  • Publication number: 20090009136
Abstract: To shift a rechargeable battery into a lower load state that is ideal with regard to storage and aging, it is proposed that a Zener diode connected in series with a resistor and a switch. The rechargeable battery voltage, which corresponds to the predetermined, lower load state, is selected as the breakdown voltage of the Zener diode. On being started manually, the rechargeable battery is shifted to a lower load state, if the current load state is higher than the predetermined, lower load state. A digital version by means of a manually switched-on digital circuit is also proposed.

  • Publication number: 20090009008
Abstract: In a rechargeable battery with a fuse for guarding against external short circuits, to make it possible to design the rechargeable battery independently of the possibly high normal continuous current, it is proposed that a signal connection existing between the rechargeable battery and a device provided for drawing current be utilized. To that end, a switch is provided, which is connected parallel to the fuse and which responds to certain electrical signals of the device. The signals can be delivered to the switch via the signal connection, so that the switch bypasses the fuse, once the signal connection is established and the aforementioned signals occur.

  • Patent number: 7457499
Abstract: A method and apparatus are described, which permit a simple, rapid manufacture of an end of an optical fiber bundle. According to the method a metallic sleeve is placed on an end section of the bundle, the end section with the sleeve on it is positioned in a shaping tool without pressing the sleeve and then pressure is exerted on the sleeve exclusively in a radial direction by press jaws of the shaping tool. In the optical fiber bundle made by the method the outer optical fibers (4?) of the optical fiber bundle (1) are embedded at least partially in the sleeve material. The apparatus for making the end of the bundle (1) with the sleeve (10) has a shaping tool (20) including at least two radially movable press jaws (22a-22f) that substantially surround the sleeve (10).

  • Patent number: 6940974
Abstract: A system for generating number tones for dialing a telephone device comprising a microphone. The system comprises a housing, a first data entry device, first and second memory devices, an output signal generator, and a transducer. The housing defines a sound opening. The first data entry device is supported by the housing and is associated with a first sequence of stored digits. The first memory device stores the first sequence of stored digits. The second memory device stores frequency data associated with number tones. The output signal generator generates, upon activation of the first data entry device, an output signal based on the first sequence of stored digits and the frequency data. The transducer is mounted within the housing adjacent to the sound opening and converts the output signal into an audible signal. The housing is adapted to be attached to the telephone device with the sound opening adjacent to the microphone.
