  • Publication number: 20020158791
Abstract: A device which can accurately detect even objects in very close proximity to a vehicle and at the same time can reliably detect more distant objects has means (MM) that can execute a selection of those reception pulses (EI) whose chronological offset in comparison to the respective transmission pulses (SI) emitted is of such a magnitude that these reception signals (EI) result exclusively from reflections against objects from a selected distance range correlating to the chronological offset. Means (DG) are also provided that permit the transmission pulse power to be increased and decreased as the distance range rises and falls.

  • Patent number: 6388538
Abstract: A microwave coupling element for coupling an input conductor with an output conductor exhibiting a predetermined wave propagation resistance includes a coupling portion interposed between the input and output conductors and including two parallel strip conductors that are galvanically uncoupled from one another. The strip conductors are spaced from each other by a predetermined distance and each has a predetermined width, at least one of the predetermined width and the predetermined distance being up to twice as large as that which would correspond to a minimum mismatch with the input and output connectors. The resulting mismatch is compensated for by at least one transformation connector exhibiting a wave propagation resistance smaller than the predetermined wave propagation resistance.

  • Patent number: 6363302
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for operating a control unit for controlling operational sequences in a vehicle. When operational sequences are error-free, the control functions of the built-in control unit are partially or completely suppressed. This allows additional functions to be switched in and out, and also allows modification and/or adaptation of data and/or programs that are accessed by the control functions. In the specific operating instance of the application, a further control unit is insertable into the vehicle wiring harness between the first control unit and a sensor arrangement, collection, group or system and an actuator arrangement, collection, group or system. The control functions suppressed in the control unit are then performable by the second control unit. The control unit then performs only the measurement functions and actuation functions The sequence is initiated and controlled by integrated remote-control functions, which are in addition to the normal or other functions.

  • Patent number: 6322167
Abstract: A method and an apparatus are described for controlling the braking force distribution in a vehicle between front and rear axles, such that at least while the vehicle is traveling in a curve, the braking force at the rear wheels is established individually in such a way that the difference between the velocity of that rear wheel and a front wheel velocity assumes defined values.

  • Patent number: 6126250
Abstract: A brake system for a motor vehicle is proposed, in which at least the braking force distribution between the front and rear axles is influenced by an automatic electronic controller. In the event of a defect in a rotational speed sensor of a front wheel or a rear wheel, emergency operating measures are proposed, which maintain the functionality of the braking force distribution controller even after a defect has occurred.

  • Patent number: 6014574
Abstract: A circuit configuration for producing an output voltage having a first polarity with respect to a reference potential, in a mobile radio transceiver supplied with an operating voltage having a second polarity with respect to the reference potential, includes a circuit input terminal for a ringing signal generator supply voltage. A preferred embodiment operates according to a fundamental functional principle of charging a first capacitor to a positive voltage with respect to the fixed reference potential through the use of a voltage overshoot at a coil after the latter has been deenergized. During an on phase of a transistor, the first capacitor charges a second capacitor to a negative voltage with respect to the fixed reference potential. The negative voltage can be picked off externally.

  • Patent number: 5999426
Abstract: A circuit arrangement for producing an output voltage with a first polarity with respect to a reference-earth potential from an operating voltage with a second polarity with respect to the reference potential. The circuit arrangement operates on the basic principle that a first capacitor is charged, by means of a voltage rise on a coil after current has been removed from it, to a voltage which is positive with respect to the fixed reference-earth potential. During the on-phase of a transistor, the first capacitor charges a second capacitor to a voltage which is negative with respect to the fixed reference-earth potential and can be picked off from the outside. An electrical resistor is connected between the circuit output connection and the control line of the transistor.

  • Patent number: 5987728
Abstract: A clutch housing for a vehicle transmission assembly and a method of making the same. The housing is generally cup-shaped with an axial hub. The outer wall of the housing is formed with a plurality of longitudinal splines of varying configurations. Select splines are formed at an increased depth. A groove is formed in the exterior surface of the housing at a depth sufficient to intersect the select splines of the inner surface thereby forming apertures through the wall of the housing. The dimensions of the apertures are determined by the configuration of the exterior groove and the interior splines.

  • Patent number: 5631836
Abstract: Wheel speeds on each side of the vehicle are added, and the sums are subtracted to form a difference VXU which is time filtered to produce a filtered difference VXG. As long as VXU does not exceed VXG by more than a speed dependent threshold, a signal indicating straight line travel is produced. This signal can be cancelled when VXG exceeds a vehicle dependent threshold and is also blocked when the vehicle speed falls below a minimum, when the ABS is operating, or when the vehicle is decelerating. The signal indicating straight line travel accounts for tire tolerance and can be used to control vehicle dynamics, for example by preventing an increase in brake pressure or engine braking when the vehicle is travelling in a curve.

  • Patent number: 5482360
Abstract: An ABS for an all-wheel-drive vehicle in which the wheel slip is included in the instability criterion. The gradient of the reference speed required for determining the wheel slip is limited, when the vehicle is accelerating, to the measured acceleration of the vehicle if the acceleration of the wheels is greater than the acceleration of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 5415469
Abstract: A vehicle brake system is described in which a lower brake pressure is fed in at the rear axle compared with the brake pressure of the front wheels. For the purpose of feeding in this brake pressure, the difference VD between the fastest front wheel speed and the slowest rear wheel speed is formed and compared with a threshold value which depends on the vehicle deceleration. An increase in pressure is undertaken until the threshold value is reached. The threshold value is, furthermore, larger in the case of travel in a straight line than it is in the case of travel in a curve.

  • Patent number: 5401082

  • Patent number: 5394684
Abstract: A process and apparatus for the control of a yarn storage mechanism on a spinning mill machine is proposed. When yarns are wound up it may occur, e.g. in forming conical bobbins, that more yarn is delivered than is wound up. The yarn which is briefly in excess is here taken up in form of a yarn loop by a compensator arm which intervenes transversely in the course of the yarn and is mounted so as to be capable of swivelling. According to the invention it is proposed that the compensator arm be subjected to the force of a spring which acts upon it increasingly as the yarn loop decreases, and in that the force of an additional elastic element acts upon the compensator arm as further excursion occurs.

  • Patent number: 5091615
Abstract: A housing of a vacuum switch has in an upper connecting region a passage, through which the connecting element is led. The latter engages with its end region in a recess, opposite the passage, in the housing. In the region of the passage, the connecting element is supported on a support tongue and clamped tight by a wedge-shaped retaining member. The vacuum switch chamber is bolted on to the connecting element. The connecting element can also be secured to the housing at the support point opposite the passage.
