  • Publication number: 20180373723
Abstract: A cloud-based, machine learning method and system to compare, rank and/or predict an example webpage's performance (such as conversion rate for webpages in an online marketing campaign) relative to its closest peers. The closest peers are selected from a sample set of webpages for which performance is known. A topic model is constructed from a modeling set of webpages, based on their content. A topic vector for the example webpage and for each webpage in the sample set is determined based upon the constructed topic model. The example webpage's closest peers are determined by the distance/similarity measure between the topic vector of the example webpage and of each webpage of the sample set. The method and system can be applied to one or a plurality of example webpages in order to assess webpages that are underperforming relative to their closest peers.

  • Patent number: 10136178
Abstract: An exemplary method includes a web services provider system detecting an input command provided by a user during a scheduling session and representative of a request for a local digital video recording (“DVR”) system to record a media program during a presentation time period that is subsequent to the scheduling session. During the scheduling session and in response to the input command, the web services provider system identifies a maximum number of media programs other than the media program and that are already scheduled to be concurrently recorded by the local DVR system at any given time during the presentation time period, determines whether the maximum number equals a maximum recording limitation of the local DVR system, and performs, based on the determination whether the maximum number equals the maximum recording limitation of the local DVR system, a predetermined action with respect to the media program.

  • Patent number: 10122668
Abstract: An external system (e.g., a website) is associated with an event and includes an interface that allows users to interact with streams of content associated with a social networking system. The interface allows a user to provide posts about the event via the interface, where the posts are displayed in the interface and also in a social networking interface on social networking system in connection with the user and other users associated with that user. The user can view, via the interface on the external system, posts from all users that are provided via the interface (e.g., everyone watching the event), thereby increasing the likelihood that the posts are relevant to the event. The user can also view, via the interface, posts from users associated with the user via the social networking system (e.g., friends of the user), regardless of where those are posted.

  • Patent number: 10091254
Abstract: A system, method, and computer program product through which address resolution is performed for nodes of a network that are behind a network address translator (NAT). A determination is made upon the initiation of a communication session as to whether one or more of the nodes included in the session are behind a NAT. Based on the determination, information is exchanged from an independent application server to the nodes included in the session so as to resolve the addressing problems introduced by the NAT. The invention is applicable in applications including, but not limited to, IP telephony, and applications complying with the session initiation protocol (SIP).

  • Publication number: 20180246232
Abstract: A gamma-ray analysis system is described for analyzing gamma-ray emitting radionuclides. The gamma-ray analysis system includes an analytical apparatus having a gamma-ray detector in operative communication with a modular and scalable shield assembly that encases a sample container having a sample to be tested. The detector communicates data to an electronic interface device that converts the data from an analog format to a digital format before a controller transmits the data to a central laboratory for further data processing, analysis and conclusion by qualified laboratory analysts. The controller runs an application software package on a graphic user interface that allows simple steps for conducting testing and data acquisition by the end user, while permitting real time data transmission between the field site and the central location. Functions were implemented for ensuring laboratory quality results while removing knowledge and experience requirements of an end user.

  • Publication number: 20180232386
Abstract: A facility for snapshot space accounting for a storage system, such as a filesystem is disclosed. The facility enables users to quickly and easily determine the amount of storage space that would be released or recovered if a snapshot were to be purged. The facility may work in conjunction with, or as part of, a snapshot service. The facility maintains an expiration data structure and a count data structure and uses these data structures in implementing the disclosed snapshot space accounting techniques. The expiration data structure represents the life cycle of each snapshot element maintained by the facility while the count data structure represents, for pairs of snapshots, the size of the information stored in the snapshot data that expired and that spans the corresponding pair of snapshots.

  • Patent number: 10032609
Abstract: Plasma applications are disclosed that operate with helium or argon at atmospheric pressure, and at low temperatures, and with high concentrations of reactive species in the effluent stream. Laminar gas flow is developed prior to forming the plasma and at least one of the electrodes is heated which enables operation at conditions where the helium plasma would otherwise be unstable and either extinguish, or transition into an arc. The techniques can be employed to remove organic materials from a substrate, thereby cleaning the substrate; activate the surfaces of materials thereby enhancing adhesion between the material and an adhesive; kill microorganisms on a surface, thereby sterilizing the substrate; etches thin films of materials from a substrate, and deposit thin films and coatings onto a substrate.

  • Publication number: 20180204804
Abstract: The present disclosure provides electromagnetic shielding for integrated circuit modules with a module-bottom sealing procedure. First a precursor package with a number of integrated modules is provided. Each integrated module includes a module substrate having a number of module contacts at a bottom surface of the module substrate. A combination of a shielding protective material and a chemical resistant tape is then applied over the bottom surface of the module substrate, such that each module contact is sealed. Next, the precursor package is singulated at each inter-module area to form a number of individual integrated modules. A shielding structure is applied completely over a side surface of each individual integrated module. Herein, the shielding structure is electrically coupled to a ground plane within the module substrate.

  • Patent number: 10023249
Abstract: A drag reducing apparatus is provided for use with vehicles having surfaces that are not streamlined. The apparatus includes an exterior cover that forms a drag reducing shape when the apparatus is fully extended. The apparatus can be retracted to a space saving configuration. A scissors linkage extends and retracts the apparatus. The scissors linkage can be motorized, and the motor can extend the scissors linkage by turning in a first direction and can retract the apparatus by turning in a second direction. The scissors linkage can hold the exterior cover taut when the apparatus is fully extended. The scissors linkage can support the exterior cover at intermediate locations when the apparatus is not fully extended. The apparatus can include support linkages and intermediate moveable members that support the exterior cover and define the drag reducing shape.

  • Patent number: 10020206
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to enhancing the thermal performance of encapsulated flip chip dies. According to an exemplary process, a plurality of flip chip dies are attached on a top surface of a carrier, and a first mold compound is applied over the top surface of the carrier to encapsulate the plurality of flip chip dies. The first mold compound is thinned down to expose a substrate of each flip chip die and the substrate of each flip chip die is then substantially etched away to provide an etched flip chip die that has an exposed surface at the bottom of a cavity. Next, a second mold compound with high thermal conductivity is applied to substantially fill each cavity and the top surface of the second mold compound is planarized. Finally, the encapsulated etched flip chip dies can be marked, singulated, and tested as a module.
