Patent number: 11422090Abstract: A phase plate for high precision wavelength extraction can include a planar substrate which has a point spread function engineered profile formed of a tessellation of regions. The point spread function engineered profile transforms a point spread function of a light source to form a wavelength dependent geometric pattern. The geometric pattern can also preserve spatial location information of the light source. Such a phase plate permits extracting three-dimensional position and the wavelength of a point emitter.Type: GrantFiled: October 4, 2019Date of Patent: August 23, 2022Assignee: University of Utah Research FoundationInventors: Jason Martineau, Jordan Gerton, Erik Jorgensen, Tim Allen

Publication number: 20160282165Abstract: The compressed gas cylinder (1) is suitable for use in delivering medical gas therapy to ambulatory patients. The compressed gas cylinder (1) has a hollow main body (2) in which therapeutic gas is stored under pressure; a cylinder head (3); a gas outlet (4); and a display (6). The display (6) provides estimates of the time remaining before full depletion of the gas within the cylinder (1). Estimates of the time remaining are based upon estimates of the amount of gas remaining in the gas cylinder (1). However, temperature variation and fluctuations in actual measurements can cause substantial errors when estimating the amount of gas remaining. The improved gas cylinder (1) reduces these errors by calculating time remaining based upon two values for the amount of gas remaining that differ by at least a predetermined minimum.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 31, 2014Publication date: September 29, 2016Inventor: Tim Allen

Publication number: 20130000693Abstract: An apparatus for positioning an object, for example, a solar energy capture device, can include a frame, the object, a joint, and at least two linear actuators. The joint connects the object to the frame and allows the object to rotate relative to the frame. The first and second linear actuators are coupled to the object. When the first and second actuators are actuated in combination, the object rotates about a pitch axis. When the first and second actuators are actuated differentially, the object rotates about a roll axis.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 30, 2011Publication date: January 3, 2013Applicant: Google Inc.Inventors: Tamsyn Peronel Waterhouse, Jonathan Peter Switkes, John Stuart Fitch, Tim Allen, Ross Koningstein

Patent number: 8156455Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for implementing parameterizable processor cores and peripherals on a programmable chip. An input interface such as a wizard allows selection and parameterization of processor cores, peripherals, as well as other modules. The logic description for implementing the modules on a programmable chip can be dynamically generated, allowing extensive parameterization of various modules. Dynamic generation also allows the delivery of device driver logic onto a programmable chip. The logic description can include information for configuring a dynamically generated bus module to allow connectivity between the modules as well as connectivity with other on-chip and off-chip components. The logic description, possibly comprising HDL files, can then be automatically synthesized and provided to tools for downloading the logic description onto a programmable chip.Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 2005Date of Patent: April 10, 2012Assignee: Altera CorporatonInventors: Tim Allen, Michael Fairman, Jeffrey Orion Pritchard, Bryan Hoyer

Patent number: 8060742Abstract: The present invention provides a method and apparatus for a trusted service provider (TSP) which assists with the secure exchange of data across the public switched telephone network. Communications are routed via a TSP, which uses cryptographic techniques to conceal the identities (e.g., telephone numbers) of the call initiator and call recipient, thereby preventing traffic analysis attacks. The TSP also performs cryptographic handshakes with the call initiator and call recipient to authenticate callers. The TSP further provides cryptographic keying material which communicants may use to help protect communications and to directly authenticate and identify each other. Although the TSP is trusted to negotiate the connection and is involved in the process, the communicants can perform their own key agreement and authentication for protecting data routed via the TSP.Type: GrantFiled: May 4, 2010Date of Patent: November 15, 2011Assignee: Synectic Design, LLCInventors: Michael J. Horgan, Tim Allen, Michael Gardiner, Terri McGill

Patent number: 7830814Abstract: Network conference application software measures communication latency between itself and an endpoint in a conference. Endpoints with excessive latency are identified as having a delay. Information about endpoints with delays is displayed by the network conference application during a network conference. The displayed information may include the ratio of endpoints with delays to total endpoints, and a representation of data previously transmitted by the conference application that an endpoint with a delay is currently viewing. A graphical user interface may be used for displaying information about endpoints with delays.Type: GrantFiled: June 2, 2006Date of Patent: November 9, 2010Assignee: Adobe Systems IncorporatedInventors: Tim Allen, Peter Santangeli
