  • Patent number: 9015495
Abstract: A mobile terminal for use with a cellular or mobile telecommunications network includes a normal execution environment and a secure execution environment The mobile terminal enables the software of the terminal in the secure execution environment to be updated. The terminal may be provided with minimal software initially in the secure execution environment, and is operable to subsequently update the software by over the air transmission of software. Also disclosed is a method for managing rights in respect of broadcast, multicast and/or unicast (downloaded) data. The method defines a service protection platform implemented on mobile terminals having both normal execution environment and secure execution environment. Service protection is provided by separating the operation of service protection application components into those that operate in the normal environment and those that are adapted to execute only in the secure execution environment.

  • Publication number: 20150012435
Abstract: A method for validating payment information for an online transaction is provided. A payment server can receive two representations of the same payment information. The payment information can be validated if it is determined that the two representations match. If there is no match, or the payment information is otherwise invalid, the payment information can be repaired based on a trusted representation of the payment information, such as stored payment information or an image of an associated value token. Payment information can be received via one or more communication channels, and can be provided by one or more consumer devices. A merchant service provider can validate payment information and handle transaction processing on behalf of a merchant.

  • Patent number: 8910195
Abstract: The present disclosure provides systems and methods for enhancing audience measurement data. Offline and online audience measurement data may be compared and correlated to improve the quality of each data and source set. Positive correlations between the offline and online data sets related to a particular event may indicate demographic traits that are likely true, such that outliers may be removed from the set or considered at a reduced weight. Negative correlations may indicate that demographic information within a source set, such as the online measurement data, may be false or suspect.

  • Patent number: 8775812
Abstract: A method of verifying the validity of a message received by a telecommunications terminal (8) having a processor (30) and which is operable in a boot mode and a runtime mode is disclosed. In the embodiments the message is a SIM unlock message, for removing or modifying a restriction of the types of subscriber identity module (SIM) with which the mobile terminal may be used. In response to reception of the SIM unlock message when the terminal (1) is in the runtime mode, the processor 30 of the terminal (1) causes the terminal to enter the boot mode and verify the validity of the message during the boot mode. Because the validity of the message is checked during the boot mode, the check can be performed with greater security.

  • Patent number: 8469555
Abstract: An optical system includes an outer reflector and at least one inner reflector, wherein the inner reflector is disposed within the outer reflector. The outer reflector has a proximal end, a distal end, and an interior surface extending from the distal end to the proximal end. The inner reflector has a proximal end, a distal end, and an interior surface and exterior surface extending from the distal end to the proximal end. The proximal end of the outer reflector is positioned adjacent a light source, wherein the light source is surrounded by the outer reflector's proximal end. The light source emits narrow angle beams of light through the inner reflector and emits wide angle beams of light between the outer reflector's inner surface and the inner reflector's external surface. The positioning and dimension of the inner reflector prevents the light source from emitting wide angle beams of light directly to an illuminated surface.

  • Patent number: 8408737
Abstract: A light emitting diode (LED) sign lighter is positioned to illuminate a sign. One or more LED modules on the LED sign lighter are directed toward different portions of the sign. Each LED module is configured with a reflector or over-optic to control the angle of the light emitted toward the sign. Each LED module includes an array of LEDs. The configuration of each LED module within the LED sign lighter helps to reduce the build-up of environmental contaminants on the LED module. The center section of the LED sign lighter includes a compartment for housing electrical components to power the LED modules. Heat sink fins are oriented along the back side of the LED sign lighter to provide thermal efficiency for the LED modules.

  • Publication number: 20120191464
Abstract: A proctoring system that includes a communication device coupled to a remote station. The remote station has a visual display that displays first information relating to an action that causes an effect on an object, and simultaneously displays second information relating to the effect on the object. The remote station includes at least one input device that allows a communication to be transmitted by an operator to the communication device. By way of example, during the deployment of a heart stent, a specialist doctor may remotely view real-time fluoroscopy imagery and patient hemodynamics.
