  • Patent number: 5780083
Abstract: A carbonated beverage container (10, 35, 40) including a hollow insert (1, 20). The insert (1, 20) has one one-way valve (7, 29, 31, 32) and one orifice (6, 28, 33, 34), one of which is arranged to allow gas from a headspace above beverage (11) to enter the insert (1, 20), and the other is arranged to jet gas from inside the insert (1, 20) into the beverage (11) upon opening the container (10, 35, 40). The 20 gas jetting into the beverage (11) causes nucleation of fine bubbles in the beverage (11) which separate out to form a close-knit creamy head.

  • Patent number: 5705209
Abstract: A carbonated beverage container (10, 35, 40) including a hollow insert (1, 20) which floats in the beverage (11). the insert (1, 20) has two one-way valves (6, 7, 28, 29), one (6, 28) of which allows gas from a headspace above the beverage (11) to enter the insert (1, 20), the other (7, 29) allowing gas from the insert (1, 20) to be jetted into the beverage (11) upon opening the container (10, 35, 40). This jet of gas into the beverage (11) causes shear, and the liberation of gas bubbles which form a close-knit creamy head on the beverage (11) once dispensed.

  • Patent number: 5584165
Abstract: An insert (10, 12) for use in providing a creamy head on a carbonated beverage dispensed from a beverage container (50) comprises a restricted orifice (20) for providing communication between its inside and outside, and a pressurized gas contained inside. The restricted orifice (20) is separated from the pressurized gas by a closure (22) which is arranged to be permanently and irreversibly opened on being subjected to a temperature above a predetermined threshold, or on being subjected to a pressure difference in which the pressure outside the insert (10, 12) exceeds that within. This enables the insert to be pre-pressurized and completely closed and stable during insertion into the container (50) and during filling. Then the closure (22) is permanently and irreversibly opened during a subsequent pasteurization step to ensure that all of the gas is vented from the insert (10, 12) on opening the container (50).

  • Patent number: 5444990
Abstract: The present invention involves package air conditioner and heat pump units. The unit has a housing containing a compressor, an outdoor section with blower and heat exchanger, and an indoor section with blower and heat exchanger. The indoor section has two interchangeable removable panels, one removable panel defining a supply port and a second removable panel defining a return port. The return and supply ports of the housing are reversible because of the unique blower assembly which has a blower attached to the second panel. The blower assembly is adapted to be disposed in at least two positions in said housing. With this arrangement, the return port and the supply port are reversible by switching the position of the first panel and the blower assembly.

  • Patent number: 5303370
Abstract: An image of a symbol or other indicium of origin or authenticity is encrypted, and printed on the item or a label in superposition with a color mask. In a preferred embodiment, an intermediate parallax record is formed of a series of images of a symbol or other indicium, each differing from the preceding one by a predetermined amount of parallax (i.e. change of viewing angle.) A multiple exposure of the series of intermediate parallax record images is made through a lenticular screen to create the encrypted image of the indicium. The lenticular screen and the medium on which the multiple exposure is made are moved relative to each other between exposures. The encrypted image and the superimposed color mask are then printed as a composite image to produce an unintelligible criss-cross of colored lines. When viewed through a lenticular screen which matches that used to create the encrypted image, the original indicium is revealed in clear form.

  • Patent number: 4474232
Abstract: A heat exchange unit is disclosed which is capable of being mounted either in a vertical or horizontal position. A condensate pan including multiple drain openings each serving a particular position is additionally disclosed. A cover plate secures the condensate pan by providing a drain projection opening into which a projection from the condensate pan may extend. A drip pan for coacting with the condensate pan is provided when the unit is mounted in the horizontal position.

  • Patent number: 4465499
Abstract: An assembly is provided for securing a pair of filter supports to support structure defined by the casing of an air handling unit and for selectively providing flanges for securing a duct to the casing. The filter support includes a filter channel having a channel portion for securing a filter and having a flange portion. The filter support may be mounted in a first position with the flange portion not extending beyond the end of the unit and in a second position with the flange portion extending beyond the end of the unit for promoting connections to a duct. Additionally, duct angles are provided having flanges extending therefrom. The duct angles are mounted to have the flanges extend inwardly when the filter channel does not extend beyond the unit and are mounted to extend outwardly to coact with the flange portions of the filter channels when it is desired to connect a duct to the unit.

  • Patent number: 4410033
Abstract: A heat exchange unit is disclosed having a combination coupling retainer and support. This combination coupling retainer and support acts to both secure a suction line coupling and a liquid line coupling connected to the appropriate headers of the heat exchanger and to provide structural support for the heat exchange unit. The coupling retainer and support includes a suction line opening for securing the suction line coupling therein and a liquid line slot in an arcuate configuration adapted to secure the liquid line coupling. This combination retainer and support is capable of being used in various units with heat exchangers mounted at differing angles, the suction line coupling serving as a pivot point and the liquid line coupling being positioned within the liquid line slot to secure the various components.

  • Patent number: 4024037
Abstract: The efficiency of electrochemical oxidation of cyanides is substantially improved by the presence of nickel ions. For example the addition of 10.sup.-.sup.3 molar nickel sulphate can triple the efficiency of the process. Nickel cyanide precipitates at the end of the reaction and is recovered and recycled.
