Patent number: 8060248Abstract: There is provided an automated prescription filling system using a robotic arm in combination with an automatic pharmaceutical dispenser having a plurality of individual pill-counting units, each under the control of its own microprocessor. The automatic pharmaceutical dispensers are modified for use with the robotic arm. Because tablet counting is completely independent of the robotic arm, system throughput is higher than in systems of the prior art. Unlike systems of the prior art, each individual pill-counting unit can be removed from behind the pharmaceutical dispenser so that the system need not be stopped for such service. The fact that counting operations are divorced from robotic arm movements allows the arm movements to be optimized and multiple prescriptions to be processed simultaneously. Controller software optimizes movement of the robotic arm based upon such factors as the fullness of the vial being transported.Type: GrantFiled: January 5, 2006Date of Patent: November 15, 2011Assignee: Innovation Associates, Inc.Inventors: Joseph H. Patent number: 7837913Abstract: Millimeter to nano-scale structures manufactured using a multi-component polymer fiber matrix are disclosed. The use of dissimilar polymers allows the selective dissolution of the polymers at various stages of the manufacturing process. In one application, biocompatible matrixes may be formed with long pore length and small pore size. The manufacturing process begins with a first polymer fiber arranged in a matrix formed by a second polymer fiber. End caps may be attached to provide structural support and the polymer fiber matrix selectively dissolved away leaving only the long polymer fibers. These may be exposed to another product, such as a biocompatible gel to form a biocompatible matrix. The polymer fibers may then be selectively dissolved leaving only a biocompatible gel scaffold with the pores formed by the dissolved polymer fibers.Type: GrantFiled: August 10, 2005Date of Patent: November 23, 2010Assignee: California Institute of TechnologyInventors: Jeff S. Sakamoto, James R. Weiss, Jean-Pierre Fleurial, Adam Kisor, Mark Tuszynski, Shula Stokols, Todd Edward Holt, David James Welker, Christopher David Breckon

Patent number: 7636905Abstract: An apparatus and method perform static timing analysis on an integrated circuit design. Certain pessimistic assumptions regarding slack when data launch and clock test signals are on opposite edges and derived from common logic blocks are improved by creating a dummy clock edge that is on the same edge as the data launch signal, and allowing the timing tool to compute the slack improvement using its native functions. The slack improvement is then multiplied by a conversion factor, and the result is used to adjust the slack. The apparatus and method give credit for slack in common blocks automatically, thereby allowing a large number of pessimistic slack values to be automatically corrected and reducing the workload of an integrated circuit designer in addressing the timing problems in an integrated circuit design.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 2006Date of Patent: December 22, 2009Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Craig Marshall Darsow, Todd Edward Obermiller
