  • Publication number: 20030148862
Abstract: An adjustable dumbbell is constructed to comprise a weight carrier pan, the weight carrier pan having a predetermined number of insertion slots. A plurality of flat weights are received in the insertion slots of the weight carrier pan, each having a center through hole. A support bar unit has two bearing plates, a center sleeve connected between the bearing plates, and two suspension racks respectively fixedly fastened to the bearing plates at an outer side, each suspension racks having a predetermined number of insertion slots for the positioning of the weights respectively. A selector is installed in the support bar unit and has two rod members mounted in the center sleeve of the support bar unit, and an adjusting mechanism controlled to move the rod members axially out of two distal ends of the center sleeve into the center holes of the weights to selectively secure the weights to the support bar unit for exercising.

  • Publication number: 20020194352
Abstract: An infrared transmission system with automatic character identification is disclosed. In the process of identifying a selected type of internal code contained in information sent from a sender device, check whether the value of each character contained in the sent information is within a default range of a specific internal code, discard all internal codes having values other than the default range, perform an conversion and an analysis on the qualified information based on the value of internal code thereof, select those less frequently appeared and qualified types of internal codes as the types of internal codes, and convert the received information into one having the type of internal code compatible to the recipient device. This can prevent random codes from occurring, show the correct information at the recipient device, carry out an errorless information communication and exchange between various electronic devices supporting software of different languages.

  • Publication number: 20020183047
Abstract: A system and method for information inquiry to phone books or databases of mobile phones is disclosed. In one embodiment, the disclosed system integrates person names and company titles into keywords to find properly allocations in databases for storage purpose. An individual may inquire information by giving keywords under input modes by means of English characters, mandarin phonetic notations, or pinyin syllables for searching. A telephone number selected from the searched database records can then be dialed based on individual's selections.

  • Publication number: 20020180806
Abstract: A system and method for upgrading inquiry efficiency of mobile phones, PDAs, or handheld devices having CCITT standard keypads is disclosed. In one embodiment, an individual may press keys to give at least one key values, whereas conversions to key values are activated to obtain mandarin pinyin syllables or phonetic notations associated with all input modes. Combinations of all pinyin syllables or phonetic notations are then derived to establish all word lists based on all input modes. Non-idiomatic character combinations are then eliminated before showing one of the word lists according to the currently employed input mode. An individual may select one from the shown word list to access detailed information contained in the selected one for further selections.

  • Publication number: 20020077808
Abstract: An intelligent dictionary input method used on a standard keypad device of the International Telegraph and Telephone Consultative Committee (CCITT) for realizing the input of bilingual dictionaries and European letters and implementing intelligent dictionary character input by searching and predicting according to the currently entered characters and the dictionary data. The method comprises the following steps: first, key messages are received from a CCITT keypad. When the pressed keys are the number keys [2] through [9], the keys are then converted into the corresponding letters and numbers according to the CCITT keypad mapping rules. When a letter is entered, the system performs searching in the dictionary database according to the searching range of the converted letters. The searching result is then displayed, completing the process of letter input.
