  • Patent number: 11071127
Abstract: A transmitting node (110) transmits a message (210) instructing a radio node (105) that data will be transmitted to the radio node (105) according to the same Downlink Control Information (DCI) each period (250). The message (210) includes a duration of the period (250). The transmitting node (110) further transmits the DCI to the radio node (105) for the periodic transmission (260). The radio node (105) receives the message (210) and the DCI from the transmitting node (110), and decodes each of a plurality of transmissions of the periodic transmission (260) according to the DCI.

  • Publication number: 20210212109
Abstract: A communication device receives an uplink grant from a node of a cellular network. The uplink grant indicates uplink radio resources allocated to the communication device in reoccurring time intervals. For each of these time intervals, the communication device selects between an active mode and an inactive mode. In the active mode the communication device performs an uplink transmission in the allocated uplink radio resources. In the inactive mode the communication device performs no uplink transmission in the allocated uplink radio resources.

  • Publication number: 20210195444
Abstract: A method, performed by a wireless device is described. The method is for handling a failure in a secondary cell serving the wireless device. The secondary cell and a primary cell serve the wireless device with carrier aggregation (CA) in a wireless communications network. The wireless device determines the failure in the secondary cell. The determination is based on a determination of a radio link control failure. The wireless device initiates sending an indication to a network node. The network node is one of a first network node and a second network node. The indication is based on the determined failure of the secondary cell. A method, performed by the network node is also described. The network node receives the indication and initiates a second procedure.

  • Publication number: 20210185717
Abstract: A scheduling node transmits, to a radio node configured for sub-subframe operation, a semi-persistent scheduling (SPS) configuration message configuring the radio node for sub-subframe-based SPS. The SPS configuration message comprises an identifier of the radio node and indicates a pattern of sub-subframes in which a resource allocation for the radio node repeats. The radio node receives the SPS configuration message and configures the radio node for sub-subframe-based SPS according to the SPS configuration message.

  • Publication number: 20210153276
Abstract: In some aspects, methods, apparatuses, and computer program products are provided for handling RLC failures in PDCP duplication where there are two logical channels on which a PDCP entity can send packets. In some aspects, the radio network node may determine a mapping between the primary and secondary logical channels and serving cells, and how this mapping can be configured for the wireless device. In some aspects, the wireless device may take different actions depending on which of a primary and a secondary logical channel, i.e. RLC entity, fails. In some aspects, the wireless device operating in PDCP duplication may notify the radio network node about the failure of a radio link supporting the secondary logical channel without triggering the RLF procedure.

  • Patent number: 11005606
Abstract: According to certain embodiments, a method in a wireless device includes transmitting a protocol data unit (PDU) or segment of a PDU on a first link and transmitting the PDU or the segment of the PDU on a second link. One or more retransmissions of the PDU or the segment of the PDU are scheduled on the second link. A positive acknowledgment is received from a receiver. The positive acknowledgement indicates a successful receipt of the PDU or the segment of the PDU on the first link. In response to receiving the positive acknowledgement, the one or more retransmissions of the PDU or the segment of the PDU on the second link are cancelled.

  • Patent number: 11005704
Abstract: A user equipment starts a first timer in response to detecting a physical layer problem with a radio link between the user equipment and a node of a cellular network. Responsive to detecting a handover measurement event, the user equipment also starts a second timer and sends a measurement report to the node. The starting of the first and second timers causes the first and second timers to simultaneously elapse. Responsive to one of the simultaneously elapsing timers expiring, the user equipment sends a radio link failure report, to the node, indicating which of the simultaneously elapsing timers expired.

Abstract: Radio network equipment (1700) is configured to implement a radio access network, RAN, central unit (12-C). The radio network equipment (1700) is configured to decide, by the RAN central unit (12-C), which of multiple RAN distributed units (12-D1, 12-D2) is to be responsible for activating duplication of traffic of a radio bearer (16) over multiple paths (16-1, 16-2). Different ones of the RAN distributed units (12-D1, 12-D2) serve different respective ones of the multiple paths (16-1, 16-2). The radio network equipment (1700) is also configured to transmit, from the RAN central unit (12-C), control signalling (20) to each of one or more of the RAN distributed units (12-D1, 12-D2) indicating whether or not the RAN distributed unit is responsible for activating duplication of the traffic of the radio bearer (16) over the multiple paths (16-1, 16-2).

  • Patent number: 10951365
Abstract: A technique for transferring data on a radio bearer is described. The split radio bearer includes a first layer entity (570) at a first layer of a protocol stack and at least two second layer entities at a second layer of the protocol stack. The second layer is lower than the first layer in the protocol stack. In a method aspect of the technique, the data is received through each of the at least two second layer entities (582, 584). The data received through the at least two second layer entities (582, 584) is validated. If a result of the validation is indicative of an inconsistency in the data received through the at least two second layer entities (582, 584), a retransmission of the data is selectively triggered through at least one of the second layer entities (582, 584).

  • Patent number: 10924919
Abstract: A wireless communication device (12) served by a wireless wide area network (WWAN) base station supports per-bearer switching of bearer traffic between the WWAN and a wireless local area network (WLAN) in a manner transparent to the WLAN. The device in this regard establishes a secure tunnel (24) through the WLAN to a security gateway (22), based on the device receiving a message from the WWAN base station (18) to establish the secure tunnel (24). The device switches bearer traffic between the WWAN and the WLAN on a per bearer basis, with bearer traffic switched to the WLAN being transported through the secure tunnel (24) and over a connection (26) between the security gateway (22) and the WWAN base station (18).
