Publication number: 20060151572Abstract: A plurality of attachments having springs hold the outer plate of a fuel tank, and an inner jig positions the inner plate. The attachments are attached to clamp arms which are opened/closed by cylinders. When the overlap portion between the outer and inner plates is welded, the thermal deformation caused by welding is accommodated by the springs. The attachments are spaced from the fuel tank in the order in which the welding point is approached.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 13, 2003Publication date: July 13, 2006Inventors: Naoji Yamaoka, Yoshimasa Iwaguchi, Takashi Shimada, Setsuo Arai, Toshio Ishii

Patent number: 7021044Abstract: A diagnostic system in which the accuracy of the diagnosis of the deterioration state of a catalyst in a catalytic converter for cleaning the exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine is enhanced without incurring a rise in cost. The temperature of the catalyst is estimated using the operating-state signal (for example, the flow rate of intake air or the width of a fuel injection pulse) of the engine by a diagnostic device. The conversion efficiency of the catalyst calculated from the outputs of oxygen sensors is corrected using the estimated temperature by the diagnostic device. The deterioration state of the catalyst is diagnosed on the basis of the corrected temperature by the diagnostic device.Type: GrantFiled: December 31, 2001Date of Patent: April 4, 2006Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Takashi Mukaihara, Toshio Ishii, Kiyoshi Miura, Kazuya Kawano

Patent number: 6948474Abstract: An internal combustion engine which injects fuel directly into a cylinder 104 and ignites air-fuel mixture formed in the cylinder, wherein each fuel injection of said internal combustion engine comprises a lead spray 105 which moves faster and a main spray 106 which moves slower, the lead spray 105 is oriented towards an ignition plug 114, and the air-fuel mixture made by pre- and main sprays is ignited twice or more. This invention of the above configuration can provide a simple and inexpensive direct cylinder injection type internal combustion engine which reduces abrasion of electrodes and consumption of electric power while assuring stable fuel combustions even when ignition timing is retarded.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 2001Date of Patent: September 27, 2005Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Junichi Yamaguchi, Yoshiyuki Tanabe, Koji Onishi, Toshio Ishii, Hiroshi Fujii

Publication number: 20050016160Abstract: A diagnostic equipment for an exhaust gas cleaning apparatus installed for an engine, comprising a misfire detector which detects the misfire of the engine, and a secondary-air-system failure detector which detects the failure of a secondary air system. An index corrector corrects a deterioration index calculated by a deterioration-index calculator, in accordance with the detected result of the detector. A deterioration decision unit decides if the diagnostic equipment has failed, by the use of the corrected deterioration index. In a case where the extent of the misfire or the like is severe, a decision interrupter interrupts the decision of the deterioration decision unit. Thus, even when the misfire of the engine or the failure of the secondary air system has occurred, the detection of the deterioration of a catalyst does not err. It is therefore avoided to erroneously replace the catalyst which has not deteriorated yet, or to run the engine in spite of the deterioration of the catalyst.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 23, 2004Publication date: January 27, 2005Inventors: Yutaka Takaku, Toshio Ishii

Publication number: 20040200453Abstract: In the fuel cylinder injection engine with the supercharging machine, the ignitability deteriorates because the density of the fuel at the spray center becomes excessive due to the shrinkage of the fuel spray under the supercharging. As a result, the density of the smoke and the hydrocarbon exhaust rate increase. The mixture of the fuel and the air under the supercharging is promoted by the control by TCV installed in the suction port which is a divided spray and air flow generation mechanism and the valve timing control of the suction and exhaust valve, etc.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 29, 2004Publication date: October 14, 2004Applicant: HITACHI, LTD.Inventors: Matsuharu Abo, Yoshiyuki Tanabe, Hiroshi Fujii, Koji Onishi, Toshio Ishii, Mamoru Fujieda

Publication number: 20030077397Abstract: The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a hot-dip plated metal strip comprising the steps of: introducing a metal strip into a molten metal bath of plating metal to adhere the molten metal onto the surface of the metal strip; taking out the metal strip, after turning the running direction of the metal strip, from the molten metal bath without applying external force from outside the surface of the metal strip; adjusting the plating weight of the molten metal adhered onto the metal strip; and controlling the shape of the metal strip using magnetic force in non-contact state directly before or after the step of adjusting the coating weight. The invention prevents adhesion of dross to the metal strip without degrading the productivity, and thus manufactures a high quality hot-dip plated metal strip.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 7, 2002Publication date: April 24, 2003Applicant: NKK CorporationInventors: Kazuhisa Kabeya, Kyohei Ishida, Munehiro Ishioka, Hideyuki Takahashi, Toshio Ishii, Yoichi Miyakawa, Akira Gamou, Yoshikazu Suzuki

Patent number: 6520168Abstract: An air-fuel ratio correction coefficient calculating component is provided to an air-fuel ratio controller for an engine having the wide range air-fuel ratio sensor. In order to compensate for a time lag in detection of an air-fuel ratio detected by the wide range air-fuel ratio sensor from the time when a mixed gas of the air-fuel ratio is supplied to the engine, the air-fuel ratio controller includes a component for calculating an air-fuel ratio correction coefficient to control an amount of fuel supplied to the engine based on an output signal of the air-fuel ratio sensor. The air-fuel ratio correction coefficient calculating component calculates the air-fuel ratio correction coefficient based on a nonlinear calculation element. The non-linear calculation element has an ON-OFF characteristic, a neutral zone characteristic, a saturation characteristic or a characteristic combining a plurality of characteristics selected from the above-mentioned characteristics.Type: GrantFiled: March 8, 2001Date of Patent: February 18, 2003Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Toshio Ishii, Yutaka Takaku
