    Abstract: A locking structure for releasably locking a covering element in a closed position on a unit housing. The locking structure includes a resiliently engaging member integrally formed on the covering element, and a supporting member pivotably connected to the covering element. The resiliently engaging member includes a pair of resilient first supports projecting from the covering element, a bar connecting the respective free ends of the resilient first supports with each other and a pair of projections formed on the bar to be releasably engaged with the housing. The supporting member includes a base plate pivotably connected to the covering element and a second support extending from the base plate to be releasably engaged with the resiliently engaging member. In a locked position of the locking structure, the bar is stably supported by the second support so that the projections are kept in engagement with the housing.

    Abstract: A blood pressure monitor includes a main body provided with a power switch and an inflating switch, a cover mounted on the main body in an open-and-close fashion and on an inner wall thereof provided with a display, and a cuff secured to the main body as a single unit. When the cover is closed during not using the monitor, the power and inflating switches are covered with the cover. When the cover is opened for use, the display appears. Thus, the blood pressure monitor provides avoidance of unexpected actuation of the power and inflating switches, improvement of operation of the switches and a view angle of the display, improved assembling work of the monitor, and simplification of repair and replacement in the monitor.

    Abstract: A cuff for a blood pressure meter includes material that does not stretch and in which the length of the surface in contact with the finger does not vary when the cuff is filled with compressed air, regardless of the diameter of the finger. Because the internal pressure in the cuff closely approximates the blood pressure of the finger, the device is accurate. Compressed air is pumped into chambers formed by a basic structure and containment walls. Folded portions which are provided on the containment walls cause surfaces of the containment walls which contact the object to be measured to remain parallel to protruding bodies located on the basic structure as they are displaced by inflation of the chambers.
