  • Patent number: 5781013
Abstract: A battery monitoring routine is executed at a short period such as one minute as an initial value when a key switch is turned on to drive an electric vehicle (so that the battery is discharged). On the other hand, when the key switch is turned off to stop or park the electric vehicle so that the battery is released open from discharge, the battery monitoring routine is executed at a short period such as one minute to measure the battery data finely within a specified time such as 30 minutes, but at a long period such as one hour to measure the battery data coarsely after the specified time such as 30 minutes to save monitoring power. The battery deterioration can be monitored by measuring the restoration status of the battery after released open from discharge, for recharging or replacement of the battery.

  • Patent number: 5672091
Abstract: A polishing apparatus has an automated endpoint detection device to determine if an endpoint of polishing has been reached without removing the wafer from a top ring of the polishing apparatus. When a pre-determined inspection time is reached in a process of polishing, the wafer is moved laterally along the turntable and the current surface condition of the wafer is determined by comparing the current surface condition with an initial surface condition, having an oxide film for example, determined from surface reflection measurement data carried out opto-electronically on the wafer before polishing. The endpoint detection device can be used to remove the surface oxide film so that the apex of the underlying device elements are just exposed. By eliminating the need for removing the wafer from the top ring for inspection, the cost of handling the wafer for polishing is reduced significantly, and enables reduction in the cost of manufactured devices.

  • Patent number: 5644212
Abstract: To equally charge a plurality of batteries constituting a traction battery, when the number of times of the ordinary charges increases beyond a reference value or when the sum total watt-hour (charged energy or charged and discharged energy) of the traction battery increases beyond a reference value or when a difference in terminal voltage between the maximum and minimum values among the battery blocks increases beyond a reference value, the traction battery is automatically equalizing charged at a small charge current for a long charge time, continuously after the ordinary battery charge, periodically, thus facilitating the maintenance of an electric vehicle. Further, whenever the traction battery is equalizing charged, the remaining battery capacity meter can be reset to a full scale automatically to eliminate an accumulated error. In addition, the battery life is estimated for battery replacement.

  • Patent number: 5513356
Abstract: In an information processing systems a procedure to be processed is divided into a plurality of basic processing units and those basic processing units are stored in the system. The system further creates and stores processing unit information for each of the stored basic processing units, the processing unit information including a name of processing executed in each processing unit, an input table required by the processing unit, and an output table outputted by the processing unit. When an operator inputs data about a desired output table format, the information processing system selects the most suitable processing unit information (knowledge) compatible with the desired output table format. From the selected processing unit information, the other relevant processing unit information is selected. By repeating a similar flow, the system traces back the flow of the processing from the output table for searching the processing unit information group.

  • Patent number: 5493479
Abstract: An electronic equipment, such as a car audio equipment, includes a console unit attached to an equipment body. The attaching mechanism includes an arm, a holder and first and second springs. The arm is attached so as to be rotated in the direction corresponding to the direction in which the console unit is attached to and detached from the equipment body. The holder is rotatably attached to a tip end portion of the arm in an opposing relation to the arm. The holder includes a first engagement portion and a second engagement portion. The first spring applies to the console unit a biasing force in the direction in which the console unit is pushed forward. A second spring is weaker in spring force than the first spring and applies to the holder a biasing force in the direction in which the console unit is pushed forward.
