  • Publication number: 20180320945
Abstract: A refrigeration unit may include a first compressor constructed and arranged to compress a first refrigerant, and a second compressor constructed and arranged to compress a second refrigerant. A first condenser of the refrigeration unit is operatively coupled to the first compressor, and a second condenser is operatively coupled to the second compressor. An evaporator of the refrigeration unit is constructed and arranged to flow the first and second refrigerants received from the respective first and second condensers for chilling a heat transfer fluid. A controller of the refrigeration unit includes a computer processor and a storage media for executing a pre-programmed algorithm for initialing the second compressor when a predetermined crossover frequency of the first compressor is reached as a system load increases.

  • Publication number: 20180313184
Abstract: A wellbore isolation device includes an elongate mandrel, a sealing element carried by the mandrel, and a slip wedge positioned about the mandrel axially adjacent the sealing element and providing an outer radial surface. A set of slip segments is circumferentially disposed about the mandrel and at least a portion of the slip wedge. An extrusion limiting ring has an annular body that provides a first axial end, a second axial end, and a scarf cut extending at least partially between the first and second axial ends. The extrusion limiting ring is movable between a contracted state, where the extrusion limiting ring is disposed about the sealing element, and an expanded state, where the extrusion limiting ring is disposed about the outer radial surface of the lower slip wedge.

  • Publication number: 20180104126
Abstract: A patient support apparatus includes a base, a seat supported by the base and a backrest pivotable between an upright position and a reclined position. In one embodiment, a backrest support member is coupled to the backrest and is adapted to move between a stowed position in which the backrest support member does not support the backrest and a deployed position in which the backrest support member does support the backrest. Movement to the deployed position occurs in response to activation of an emergency control. In other embodiments, the base includes a portion that moves into an extended position underneath the backrest when the backrest is in the reclined position. Movement of the base portion to the extended position also occurs in response to activation of an emergency control.

  • Patent number: 9668928
Abstract: A chair includes a backrest that pivots with respect to the seat in a manner that improves the occupant's experience during the transition from an upright position to a reclined position. During pivoting of the backrest with respect to the seat, the backrest moves in a manner having an instantaneous center of rotation that does not remain stationary during the pivoting of the backrest. In some embodiments, the instantaneous center of rotation begins at a location lower than a height of the seat and moves backward as the backrest pivots from the upright position to the reclined position. The movement of the instantaneous center of rotation follows a smoothly curved path that has a continuous first derivative and, in some embodiments, continuous higher order derivatives as well. The movement may be effectuated via pins coupled to the backrest that ride in smoothly curved channels defined in a seat frame.

  • Publication number: 20170050734
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a system for improved control of movement for adjusting position of an articulating aircraft seat. In an embodiment, a caliper brake engages a brake pad against a braking surface for stopping seat movement. The braking surface is linearly aligned with a desired direction of seat movement. A biasing mechanism maintains the brake pad against the braking surface to prevent movement of the seat. A release actuator counteracts the biasing mechanism for releasing the brake pad from the braking surface to allow seat movement.
