    Abstract: Improvements are provided to the paging process for an eMTC UE by allowing a base station and the UE to apply a UE-specific DRX cycle for paging, from one set of DRX cycles, when the UE is operating in non-CE mode and apply another UE-specific DRX cycle, from a more restricted set of UE-specific DRX cycles, when the UE is operating in a CE mode. A UE may report and apply certain UE-specific DRX cycles under non-CE mode, and may change a UE-specific DRX cycle to one from a more restricted set when operating in CE mode. Similarly, base stations may receive the reported UE-specific DRX cycle and apply that UE-specific DRX cycle for paging the UE in non-CE mode, while applying a different UE-specific DRX cycle from the more restrictive set for paging the UE in CE mode.

    Abstract: Aspects are provided for repeating a configuration for a transmission after contention resolution in an early contention resolution. An apparatus may be configured to obtain a configuration indicating a number of repetitions for a PUCCH transmission for a PDSCH prior to activation of a dedicated PUCCH resource configuration. The PUCCH transmission may include a HARQ feedback message after receiving a contention resolution message carried in a prior PDSCH in a random access procedure. The apparatus may also be configured to transmit the HARQ feedback message for the PDSCH on a PUCCH according to the number of repetitions. The apparatus may further be configured to transmit a subsequent HARQ feedback message for the PDSCH on the PUCCH according to the number of repetitions for the HARQ feedback message for the PDSCH on the PUCCH. This allows coverage techniques to be applied to certain transmissions in order to improve coverage and reliability.

The UE may identify a location of the UE. The UE may determine a pre-compensation timing based on a distance from the two locations. The UE and the base station may transmit subsequent communication according to the random access preamble, the pre-compensation timing, or any combination thereof.

A user equipment (UE) and a network entity may pseudo-randomly generate frequency hopping indexes to support secure communication of sounding reference signals (SRSs). For example, the UE may securely obtain a key associated with communication a set of SRSs via respective portions of system bandwidth for communicating with the network entity. The UE and the network entity may generate a set of frequency hopping indexes using the key. The set of frequency hopping indexes may correspond to the set of SRSs, and each frequency hopping index may indicate a respective portion of the system bandwidth for communication of a corresponding SRS. The UE and the network entity may communicate the set of SRSs in accordance with the set of frequency hopping indexes.
