    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A communication device, otherwise known as a user equipment (UE) may transmit a random access message (e.g., a message 3) associated with a random access procedure. A hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback may be disabled for the random access procedure. The UE may initiate a contention resolution window associated with the random access procedure for a first downlink data channel transmission of a set of downlink data channel transmissions associated with the random access procedure. The UE may receive, during the contention resolution window, the first downlink data channel transmission carrying a contention resolution medium access control-control element (MAC-CE). The UE may transmit acknowledgment information for the first downlink data channel transmission carrying the contention resolution MAC-CE based on an indication to enable the HARQ feedback.

In a second example, feedback process IDs may be dynamically allocated to multicast or unicast messages via a corresponding grant. A message may be identified as a new transmission or retransmission of a unicast message or multicast message based on a combination of an ID associated with the grant and a new data indicator (NDI) of the grant.

    Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for using a radio access network (RAN) level negative acknowledgement (NAK) feedback to indicate at least one missing frame from an encoding device. The RAN level NAK feedback replaces or preempts a decoding device sending an end-to-end feedback to the encoding device using real-time transport protocol (RTP) that has a long latency and may cause freezes at the decoding device. For example, an encoding device may send to a network entity a request for a configuration that configures the encoding device to transmit media frames to the decoding device. The network entity may provide a NAK feedback indicating at least one missing frame. Having received the configuration in response to the request, the encoding device transmits media frames to the decoding device via the network entity, and monitors for NAK feedback from the network entity in accordance with the configuration.

The method starts a random access response (RAR) window at a first physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) occasion after twice the calculated propagation delay from sending the random access preamble. The method receives a random access response (RAR) message from the base station during the RAR window. The RAR message includes an uplink grant indicating an uplink shared channel resource. Further, the method sends an uplink message to arrive during the uplink shared channel resource while accounting for the calculated propagation delay.
