    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for configuration and reporting of proximity detection measurements are disclosed herein. User equipment (UE) is configured to receive and store a PD-RS list from an evolved universal terrestrial radio access network (E-UTRAN) node B (eNB). The PD-RS list includes a radio resource configuration for at least a first proximity discovery reference signal (PD-RS). The UE is configured to measure at least the first PD-RS to determine a signal parameter for the first PD-RS. The UE reports the signal parameter for the first PD-RS to the eNB.

    Abstract: Technology for device discovery using a device-to-device (D2D) sounding reference signal (SRS) and device discovery using D2D SRS in a channel measurement group (CMG) is disclosed. In an example, a user equipment (UE) configured for device discovery via a node using the D2D SRS can include a transceiver module. The transceiver module can send a radio resource control (RRC) device discovery request to a node, scan D2D SRS subframes of proximity UEs using D2D SRS triggering, and send feedback to the node of detected D2D SRS information of the proximity UEs. The proximity UE can be located within a same cell as the UE.

    Abstract: Described herein is a technique for aggregating background traffic packets by the background users instead of performing a random access procedure to request an uplink resource for each new packet. Since the same physical random access channel (PRACH) resources are used for random access procedures by multiple UEs, collisions can occur. The PRACH is expected to operate with very low collision rates, but if the number of users increases, the collision rate increases as well as the error rate. The disclosed technique reduces the collision rate by reducing the number of random access procedures used to transmit background traffic.

    Abstract: Technology for initiating a random access procedure by a wireless device after extended access barring (EAB) is disclosed. The wireless device can release a bar on the wireless device. The bar can prevent the wireless device from accessing a node using EAB. The wireless device can count a random backoff time using a random backoff timer. The random backoff time can include a random time between zero and a maximum backoff time period. The wireless device can transmit a random access channel (RACH) message (including physical random access channel (PRACH) preamble) from the wireless device to the node to initiate a random access procedure after the expiry of the random backoff timer.
