  • Publication number: 20140088858
Abstract: Various embodiments relating to driving behavior of a driver of a motor vehicle are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method may include assessing driving behavior of the driver according to a comparison of a current value of a coasting characteristic relative to a reference value. The current value may be determined during operation of the motor vehicle. The reference value of the coasting characteristic may be determined from operation of the motor vehicle during at least one past operating phase or another duration. The method further includes displaying a visualization representative of assessed driving behavior of the driver.

  • Publication number: 20140051041
Abstract: A system for monitoring and analyzing the driving behavior of a driver in a motor vehicle includes a traffic-rule-conformance evaluation module (3) which evaluates the driving behavior of the driver with regard to adherence to elementary traffic rules. A defensive-driving-style evaluation module (4) evaluates the driving style of the driver under general safety aspects which are not or not always unambiguously specified by legal regulations. A rating-number specification module (5) specifies and updates continuously a rating number which represents a measure of the conformance to rules of driving behavior and defensiveness of the driving style of the driver. A communication module (6) communicates with the rating-number specification module (5) and establishes a data link with a remote data processing device (8). After the rating number has reached or exceeded a predetermined threshold value, this fact is reported to the remote data processing device (8) via the communication module (6).

  • Publication number: 20130116906
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for operating a motor vehicle with an internal combustion engine in a coasting operating mode in which the motor vehicle rolls essentially in a propulsionless fashion and essentially without a perceptible engine drag torque on an essentially level road if there is no propulsion request or braking request from a driver of the motor vehicle. According to the invention, the coasting operating mode is not brought about by automatically opening the drivetrain but rather is simulated with the clutch closed in that so much air/fuel mixture is fed to the internal combustion engine that the engine drag torque is largely but not completely compensated.

  • Publication number: 20120270701
Abstract: The disclosure relates to methods for operating an automatic start/stop system in a motor vehicle having an internal combustion engine and an automatic clutch, wherein the automatic start/stop system automatically opens the clutch as a function of propulsion requests, wherein the automatic opening of the clutch is prohibited in certain driving situations such as detected hazardous situations.

  • Publication number: 20120191317
Abstract: The invention relates to a device and a method for controlling the operation of an internal combustion engine in a motor vehicle, with a brake line, at least one sensor for measuring the brake line pressure in the brake line, a stop-start device for automatically switching off and starting the internal combustion engine, and an adaptive cruise control device for regulating the vehicle speed as a function of environmental information captured in a sensor-based manner, wherein a brake cylinder acting on the brake line is associated with the adaptive cruise control device and wherein the stop-start device and the adaptive cruise control device are coupled to one another in that the automatic switching-off and starting of the internal combustion engine via the stop-start device is executed directly as a function of the brake line pressure measured by the sensor.

  • Patent number: 8095291
Abstract: The invention relates to a control device for a motor vehicle having an internal combustion engine and a stop/start device, and to a method for controlling the operation of an internal combustion engine in such a motor vehicle, wherein the stop/start device is designed to switch off the internal combustion automatically when at least one stop condition is met, wherein the switching off of the internal combustion engine when the stop condition is present does not take place until after a switch off delay time has passed. The control device is designed to prevent, in reaction to a first voice command, the automatic switching off of the internal combustion engine for a predefined time period and/or until a predefined vehicle operating state criterion has been fulfilled irrespective of whether or not the stop condition was already met at the time when the voice command was issued.

  • Publication number: 20030000759
Abstract: A power supply arrangement for a vehicle having an electric motor includes a plurality of high-power batteries which are arranged within the vehicle and are connected to a motor regulator in a series circuit. A switch-off unit ensures that a fixed disconnection sequence is carried out when the motor vehicle is switched off, the motor regulator being first provided with the opportunity of reducing the power drain. Subsequently, a main circuit breaker, which disconnects the connection of the batteries to the outside, is opened first and then further circuit breakers, which are arranged between the batteries, are opened.
