  • Patent number: 9027027
Abstract: Managing threads for executing on a computing device based on a power state of the computing device. A power priority value corresponding to each of the threads is compared to a threshold value associated with the power state. The threads having an assigned power priority value that violates the threshold value are suspended from executing, while the remaining threads are scheduled for execution. When the power state of the computing device changes, the threads are re-evaluated for suspension or execution. In an embodiment, the threads on a mobile computing device are managed to maintain the processor in a low power state to reduce power consumption.

  • Patent number: 9008346
Abstract: A headphone with articulating earpieces includes a headband, a hinged fork, and earpieces connected to the fork in a manner allowing the earpieces to articulate relative to the fork as a hinge on the fork articulates. The earpieces are arranged on the fork in a manner allowing them to face each other while articulating from a folded position adjacent the headband, to an unfolded position for listening. When unfolded for listening, the earpieces are adapted to fully extend into a biased open position with an audible click. Similarly, when articulating the earphones to a closed position, they are biased against the headband with an audible click.

  • Publication number: 20150095994
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for providing generating and managing profiles. Such systems and methods may be implemented to control access to a function of a web server or site based on a level of trust associated with a user or device profile. According to one exemplary method, session information associated with a request to access a function of a web server is identified. • Publication number: 20150070022
Abstract: A method of generating at least one recommended replacement time signal for a battery is provided. The method includes measuring a plurality of associated unloaded and loaded battery voltages. A delta voltage for each associated unloaded and loaded battery voltage is then determined. A select number of delta voltages are averaged. A minimum delta voltage is determined from a plurality of the averaged delta voltages. At least one recommended replacement time signal for the battery is generated with the use of the minimum delta voltage when at least one averaged delta voltage is detected that has at least reached a replacement threshold.

  • Patent number: 8974212
Abstract: Methods and systems for manufacturing fiber-reinforced resin parts are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, a method for manufacturing a fiber-reinforced resin part includes positioning a plurality of fibers on a mold surface of a female tool, and covering the fibers with a sealing layer. The method further includes pressing a portion of the covered fibers against an interior transition region (e.g., an internal radius) of the mold surface. While the portion of covered fibers is pressed against the interior transition region, air is removed from between the sealing layer and the mold surface to draw at least a partial vacuum between the sealing layer and the mold surface.

  • Patent number: 8959058
Abstract: A data backup manager links data backup robustness to an external state. The data backup manager monitors the external state. Responsive to the external state, the data backup manager adjusts parameters controlling data backup, such as backup frequency, backup content, and backup retention time. The data backup manager can increase these parameters responsive to an increase in an external distress state level, and decrease them in response to a decrease in the external distress state level.

  • Patent number: 8919309
Abstract: A mechanism and method of confirming engine timing in an internal combustion engine includes two embodiments, which delay the rotation of the camshaft until confirmation that the engine is properly timed based upon the sensors provided by the electronic control systems of the motor vehicle. In one embodiment, a cam gear assembly is joined to the camshaft to enable proper confirmation that the engine is properly timed before enabling the rotation of the camshaft. In a second embodiment, a gear assembly is used in conjunction with a crankshaft. The crank gear assembly includes an outer ring and an inner ring. • Patent number: 8915243
Abstract: Thermal solar energy collector, in which a solar radiation absorption panel, inside which the heat-conducting fluid flows, is situated inside a parallelepipedal box, with an opening having a transparent cover at the front, which may be doubled so as to leave an atmospheric space in the middle. The rear wall of the box has a system of seals and reservoirs which are inset in the wall so that they accommodate the expansion and contraction of vertical tubes of the panel and horizontal connections by means of gentle changes in curvature of the tube bends and slight rotations of the reservoirs, with the addition of a system for filling the box with an inert gas, the pressure of which may be chosen from a range of between a thousandth of an atmosphere and one atmosphere, there being provided for this purpose an external gas circuit, with low- and high-pressure tanks, an intermediate compressor.

  • Patent number: 8902915
Abstract: A context-free (stateless) dataport may allow multiple processors to perform read and write operations on a shared memory. The operations may include, for example, structured data operations such as image and video operations. The dataport may perform addressing computations associated with block memory operations. Therefore, the dataport may be able, for example, to relieve the processors that it serves from this duty. The dataport may be accessed using a message interface that may be implemented in a standard and generalized manner and that may therefore be easily transportable between different types of processors.

  • Patent number: 8899763
Abstract: A device for concentrating solar radiation (4) with longitudinal mirrors (7) and a longitudinal receiver (1), has mirrors with a circular cross-section with a radius of curvature that is twice the transverse distance from the center (35) of each mirror to the central point (3) of the receiver. The width of the receiver is 1% of the transverse distance from the central point to the center (89) of the furthest mirror (32). The width of each mirror is determined according to the drift of the rays reflected when the mirror focuses the sun, prescribing an equal width for all mirrors, which is: equal to the width of the active face (2) of the receiver when mounted according to the meridian; and triple the width of the active face (2) of the receiver when mounted according to the parallel of latitude. The mirrors are installed in a contiguous manner and the receiver is installed at a height on columns (8).
