  • Patent number: 9159324
Abstract: Techniques are provided to improve identification of a person using speaker recognition. In one embodiment, a unique social graph may be associated with each of a plurality of defined contexts. The social graph may indicate speakers likely to be present in a particular context. Thus, an audio signal including a speech signal may be collected and processed. A context may be inferred, and a corresponding social graph may be identified. A set of potential speakers may be determined based on the social graph. The processed signal may then be compared to a restricted set of speech models, each speech model being associated with a potential speaker. By limiting the set of potential speakers, speakers may be more accurately identified.

  • Patent number: 9031971
Abstract: In an AR system, method for operating same, a mobile device, and method for operating same, flexible loxels are used that may be different for different image data providers. This enables AR applications to download smaller loxels which have more information, such as dense areas, like in cities, or larger loxels which have less information, like, for example, desert areas. Data downloads may take into account client orientation and direction of motion to determine incremental data that need to be downloaded as the client moves. The loxels are coded with loxel identifiers mapped to location information, so only the necessary loxels for a particular application need be downloaded, allowing the client to autonomously decide when to acquire new image data and how much data to acquire.

  • Patent number: 8948395
Abstract: A novel key management approach is provided for securing communication handoffs between and access terminal and two access points. This approach provides for securely handing off communications between an access terminal and access point without risking exposure a master key for the access terminal. Temporary master keys are derived for low latency handoffs and secure authentication between a new access point and the access terminal. In one aspect, a distributive key management scheme is provided in which a current access point generates a new security key (based on its own security key) that is used by the next access point with which an access terminal communicates. In another aspect, a centralized key management scheme is provided in which a central authenticator maintains, generates, and distributes new security keys (based on a master security key associated with the access terminal) to access points.

  • Patent number: 8874769
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are provided for facilitating group access controls in peer-to-peer or other similar overlay networks. A group administrator may create a group in the overlay network and may assign peer-specific certificates to each member of the group for indicating membership in the group. A group member peer node can access data objects in the overlay network using its respective peer-specific certificate to authenticate itself as a group member. The authentication is performed by another peer node in the network. The validating peer node can authenticate that the group member is the rightful possessor of the peer-specific certificate using a public key associated with the peer node to which the peer-specific certificate was issued. The validating peer node can also validate that the peer-specific certificate was properly issued to the group member using a public key of the apparatus that issued the peer-specific certificate.

  • Patent number: 8848513
Abstract: A communication system enables a node to utilize multiple communication interfaces to connect to an overlay network. The use of multiple communication interfaces provides a redundant overlay network connection, thereby enabling a node to maintain connectivity or select a preferred connection to the overlay network, increasing efficiency or reducing costs in the overlay network. A network in which member nodes obtain services in the absence of server-based infrastructure is referred to as a “peer-to-peer overlay network” (or “overlay network” or simply “overlay”). Overlay networks consist of several nodes from hundreds, to thousands, joined together in a logical routing structure. Individual nodes often participate in routing and maintenance aspects of the overlay. Typically an overlay is formed through the enrollment and joining of all these nodes as defined by the overlay protocol. Nodes forming peer-to-peer overlay networks may communicate with each other over various network technologies.

  • Patent number: 8769611
Abstract: A method is provided for securing a PMIP tunnel between a serving gateway and a new access node through which an access terminal communicates. A PMIP key hierarchy unique to each access terminal is maintained by the gateway. The gateway uses a first node key to secure PMIP tunnels when authentication of the access terminal has been performed. A PMIP key is generated based on the first node key and the PMIP key is sent to the new access node to assist in establishing and securing a PMIP tunnel between the gateway and the new access node. Otherwise, when authentication of the access terminal has not been performed, the gateway generates a second node key and sends it to an intermediary network node which then generates and sends a PMIP key to the new access node. This second key is then used to secure the PMIP tunnel.
