  • Publication number: 20120019673
Abstract: In an AR system, method for operating same, a mobile device, and method for operating same, flexible loxels are used that may be different for different image data providers. This enables AR applications to download smaller loxels which have more information, such as dense areas, like in cities, or larger loxels which have less information, like, for example, desert areas. Data downloads may take into account client orientation and direction of motion to determine incremental data that need to be downloaded as the client moves. The loxels are coded with loxel identifiers mapped to location information, so only the necessary loxels for a particular application need be downloaded, allowing the client to autonomously decide when to acquire new image data and how much data to acquire.

  • Publication number: 20120011150
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are described herein for performing AND/OR searching using multiple keywords. A query is received at a first node in a network having multiple keywords. The first node determines a set of documents matching a first of the multiple keywords, and computes an ideal Bloom filter representing those keywords. The first node sends the query and the Bloom filter to a second node, which determines its search results for a second of the multiple keywords in accordance with the Bloom filter.

  • Publication number: 20110211444
Abstract: A communication system enables a node to utilize multiple communication interfaces to connect to an overlay network. The use of multiple communication interfaces provides a redundant overlay network connection, thereby enabling a node to maintain connectivity or select a preferred connection to the overlay network, increasing efficiency or reducing costs in the overlay network. A network in which member nodes obtain services in the absence of server-based infrastructure is referred to as a “peer-to-peer overlay network” (or “overlay network” or simply “overlay”). Overlay networks consist of several nodes from hundreds, to thousands, joined together in a logical routing structure. Individual nodes often participate in routing and maintenance aspects of the overlay. Typically an overlay is formed through the enrollment and joining of all these nodes as defined by the overlay protocol. Nodes forming peer-to-peer overlay networks may communicate with each other over various network technologies.

  • Publication number: 20110078439
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for user identity authentication for a peer device joining a peer-to-peer overlay network. In the method, a credential server of the overlay network receives a registered user identity from a joining peer device. The credential server verifies the registered user identity with an identity provider. Upon receiving, at the credential server, successful verification of the registered user identity from the identity provider, the credential server issues to the joining peer device a signed certificate for use by an authenticated peer device in the overlay network to authenticate the registered user identity of the joining peer device, wherein the signed certificate is signed by a private key of the credential server.

  • Publication number: 20110072055
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for publishing services and performing queries for service in a network are described herein. Service descriptions writing in a native search description language are translated to a normalized schema. The normal schema is published to the network. Queries to the network, which may be written in any native search description language, are also translated to normalized schema prior to performing the search. Accordingly, all services available can be published and located in a query without consideration of the native search description language.

  • Publication number: 20110016226
Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for updating documents in a distributed network. When a new document needs to be added to the network, or when changes are to be made to an existing document, keywords are extracted from the document and used to generate update messages for each keyword. The nodes responsible for each keyword are determined. The individual update messages are consolidated into a composite update messages that is sent to a first node in the network. The first node extracts those portions of the composite message associated with it, and forwards the composite message to a second node in the network.

  • Publication number: 20110004681
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for enhanced overlay state maintenance in a peer-to-peer overlay network. A first method includes inferring that a first node is leaving the overlay network, and transmitting a decrement message to decrement a size counter value. A second method includes identifying a set of nodes associated with a first node of an overlay network, obtaining a segment length associated with each node of the set of nodes, and determining a size of the overlay network by dividing the total number of nodes in the set of nodes by the sum of the segment lengths. A third method includes identifying a set of nodes associated with a first node of an overlay network, obtaining a size estimate associated with the first node and with each node of the set of nodes, and determining a size of the overlay network by averaging the size estimates.

  • Publication number: 20100162348
Abstract: A system and method are provided that allow an application on a first terminal to inquire about available network communication associations that it can use to send data to another terminal, thereby avoiding the establishment of a new network communication association with the other terminal. A security information module may serve to collect and/or store information about available network communication associations between the first terminal and another terminal across different layers. The security information module may also assess a trust level for the network communication associations based on security mechanisms used to establish each association and/or past experience information reported for these network communication associations. Upon receiving a request for available network communication associations, the security information module provides this to the requesting application which can use it to establish communications with a corresponding application on the other terminal.

  • Publication number: 20100161817
Abstract: A multi-party commitment method is provided whereby a joining node uses contributions provided by contributor nodes in a peer-to-peer overlay network to generate a node identifier. The joining node generates a first contribution and sends a join request to an introducer node (or a plurality of contributor nodes), where the join request seeks to obtain one or more contributions for generating the node identifier within an identifier space of the overlay network. A hash of the first contribution may be included as part of the join request. In response, the joining node may receive a plurality of contributions, wherein the contributions are bound to each other and the first contribution by a prior external multi-node commitment operation. The joining node can then generate its node identifier as a function of the first contribution and the received contributions. Consequently, collusion between nodes and malicious manipulation during ID generation can be frustrated.

  • Publication number: 20100125670
Abstract: Storage authorization and access control of data stored on a peer-to-peer overlay network is provided. A publishing node stores data on a storage node in the overlay network. The publishing node is adapted to facilitate data storage authorization by generating a resource identifier as a function of a usage string associated with a data type to be stored. A storage request is generated that includes the resource identifier and data to be stored. The storage request may be sent to the storage node. The storage device receives the storage request sent by a publishing node, including a resource identifier and data to be stored. Independent storage authorization is performed by the storage node at an overlay level by verifying the resource identifier. The data in the storage request is stored at the storage node if the resource identifier is successfully verified.

  • Patent number: 7720476
Abstract: A method for is disclosed in which a first message is received from a first device. Upon receipt of the first message, a registration request is transmitted via the first device to a home agent for pre-registration of a co-located care-of address associated with a second device. The registration request includes the co-located care-of address associated with the second device. If the first message is received again from the first device prior to attaching to the second device, the registration request is re-transmitted via the first device.
