  • Patent number: 7898995
Abstract: In general, this disclosure is directed to establishment and release of a connection between a communication device and an access network. More specifically, the techniques of this disclosure are directed to determining when a data flow used for exchanging call control requests becomes inactive. For example, a communication device may dynamically adjust an inactivity timer threshold associated with the data flow used by applications to exchange call control messages when a new call control transaction starts or an existing call control transaction ends, e.g., by selecting a single inactivity timer threshold for the data flow to satisfy minimum connection requirements of existing call control transactions, recently ended call control transactions and the new call control transaction. The data flow is considered inactive when no applications send or receive messages via the data flow for a period of time that exceeds the adjusted inactivity timer threshold.

  • Patent number: 7899067
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are disclosed for generating and using an enhanced tree bitmap data structure in determining a longest prefix match, such as in a router, packet switching system. One implementation organizes the tree bitmap to minimize the number of internal nodes that must be accessed during a lookup operation. A pointer is included in each of the trie or search nodes to the best match so far entry in the leaf or results array which allows direct access to this result without having to parse a corresponding internal node. Moreover, one implementation stores the internal node for a particular level as a first element in its child array. Additionally, one implementation uses a general purpose lookup engine that can traverse multiple tree bitmaps or other data structures simultaneously, and perform complete searches, partial searches, and resume partial searches such as after receiving additional data on which to search.

  • Patent number: 7899788
Abstract: A method and system for backing up and restoring data of virtual machines. A virtual machine may be discovered through a directory service or via an agent that is installed on the host operating system that is running the virtual machine. If the agent is installed on the virtual machine, the agent monitors changes to a set of protected volumes on the virtual machine. If the agent is installed on the host, the agent monitors changes to the protected volumes, which may contain one or more virtual servers on the host. Periodically, these changes from the host or the virtual server are sent to a data protection server. The data protection server updates its replicas of protected volumes with the sent changes. Versions of files on a data protection server corresponding to a volume of a virtual server may be restored to the virtual machine, to another machine, or may be viewed from the data protection server.

  • Patent number: 7898878
Abstract: A data system component having a state machine circuit and receivers that utilize high and low threshold signals permits accurate detection of strobe signal pattern edges such as those for preamble, burst and post-amble conditions in the strobe signal. The state machine circuit may then be configured to set conditions associated with further circuit elements such as for power saving, data reception, on-die termination, etc. based on the conditions detected in the strobe signal to improve data or memory system performance. The components may be implemented as part of memory controllers and/or memory such as a dynamic random access memory and used in memory read and write operations.

  • Publication number: 20110044259
Abstract: A wireless base unit (102) supporting carrier aggregation determines a truncation time period (159, 169) in order to create a reduced subframe component (154, 164) on an additional component carrier (120) such that the truncated subframe component (154, 164) does not interfere with the control region (171, 172) of a subframe (170, 180) transmitted on an overlapping component carrier (130) by an uncoordinated second base unit (105). The wireless base unit (102) transmits the truncated subframe component (154, 164) and also transmits truncation time period information within a control region (151, 161) of an anchor carrier (110). A remote terminal (104, 108) that supports carrier aggregation searches a control region (151, 161) of a subframe (150, 160) transmitted on the anchor carrier (110) for truncation information and uses the truncation information to determine a boundary of a data region in a subframe component (154, 164) received on the additional component carrier (120).

  • Publication number: 20110046617
Abstract: A working end of a catheter includes at least one therapeutic element, such as a resistive heating element, usable to deliver energy for ligating, or reducing the diameter of, a hollow anatomical structure. In certain examples, the catheter includes a lumen to accommodate a guide wire or to allow fluid delivery. In certain embodiments, a balloon is inflated to place resistive element(s) into apposition with a hollow anatomical structure and to occlude the structure. Indexing devices and methods are also disclosed for successively treating portions of the hollow anatomical structure. In certain examples, marks along the catheter shaft provide visual verification to the physician of the relative position of the therapeutic element of the catheter. Embodiments of indexing devices may include pairs of rings and/or hinged arms that move a catheter a desired indexed position between successive treatments.

  • Publication number: 20110047415
Abstract: Facilitating debugging of business flows deployed on a production server. An aspect of the present invention processes some service requests (received from a client system) in a normal mode and some other service requests in a debug mode concurrently, all according to a business flow. According to another aspect, the debug mode supports a single step debug operation, in which each step corresponds to a single activity of the business flow. Accordingly, an administrator of the production server is enabled to better determine, the problems in the execution of business flows deployed on a production server at runtime.

  • Publication number: 20110042726
Abstract: A high-voltage device structure comprises a resistor coupled to a tap transistor that includes a JFET in a configuration wherein a voltage provided at a terminal of the JFET is substantially proportional to an external voltage when the external voltage is less than a pinch-off voltage of the JFET. The voltage provided at the terminal being substantially constant when the external voltage is greater than the pinch-off voltage. One end of the resistor is substantially at the external voltage when the external voltage is greater than the pinch-off voltage. When the external voltage is negative, the resistor limits current injected into the substrate. It is emphasized that this abstract is provided to comply with the rules requiring an abstract that will allow a searcher or other reader to quickly ascertain the subject matter of the technical disclosure.

  • Publication number: 20110044378
Abstract: This invention teaches to the details of an interference canceling receiver for canceling intra-cell and inter-cell interference in coded, multiple-access, spread spectrum transmissions that propagate through frequency selective communication channels to a multiplicity of receive antennas. The receiver is designed or adapted through the repeated use of symbol-estimate weighting, subtractive cancellation with a stabilizing step-size, and mixed-decision symbol estimates. Receiver embodiments may be designed, adapted, and implemented explicitly in software or programmed hardware, or implicitly in standard RAKE-based hardware either within the RAKE (i.e., at the finger level) or outside the RAKE (i.e., at the user or subchannel symbol level). Embodiments may be employed in user equipment on the forward link or in a base station on the reverse link. It may be adapted to general signal processing applications where a signal is to be extracted from interference.
