  • Publication number: 20090087484
Abstract: A formulation and dosage form for enhancing the bioavailability of orally administered hydrophilic macromolecules includes a permeation enhancer, a hydrophilic macromolecule, and a carrier such as a nonionic surfactant that exhibits in-situ gelling properties. The formulation is delivered within the GI tract as a liquid having at least some affinity for the surface of the GI mucosal membrane. Once released, it is believed that the liquid formulation spreads across one or more areas of the surface of the GI mucosal membrane, where the carrier of the formulation then transitions into a bioadhesive gel in-situ. As a bioadhesive gel, the formulation presents the hydrophilic macromolecule and the permeation enhancer at the surface of the GI mucosal membrane at concentrations sufficient to increase absorption of the hydrophilic macromolecule through the GI mucosal membrane over a period of time.

  • Patent number: 7427483
Abstract: The present invention is the development of a simple and specific quantitative method for the determination of P. falciparum DNA in malaria that involves the direct detection of the highly 42-kDa conserved C-terminal region of P. falciparum merozoite surface protein (MSP1) gene. This procedure entails the amplification of the 42-kDa C-terminal region of the MSP1 gene by using the PCR technique in the presence of digoxigenin-11-dUTP and the synthesis of the specific biotin labeled nucleotide probes directed to the 42-kDa C-terminal region of the MSP1 gene. These specific probes are then used in the Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) for the quantitative determination of the 42-kDa C-terminal region of the MSP1 gene which leads to the quantitative determination of P. falciparum DNA in malaria for quantitative diagnostic purpose as well as for monitoring the efficacy of antimalarial treatment.

  • Patent number: 7303882
Abstract: To maximize the yield of protein from a baculovirus system, optimal infection of the host cell culture must be achieved; in order to obtain such optimal infection, the titer of the virus inoculation must be known. The present invention is the development of a simple, rapid, and universally applicable titration method that involves the direct detection of the viral DBP gene derived from AcNPV (AcNPV DBP) as a target for quantitative titer determination of baculovirus and the use of biotin specific probes directed to viral DBP gene. The procedure entails the amplification of the AcNPV DBP gene by using the PCR technique in the presence of digoxigenin-11-dUTP from the negative control (non-infected) and infected samples, and the synthesis of the specific biotin label nucleotide probes directed to the AcNPV DBP gene.

  • Publication number: 20070244768
Abstract: Articles such as compact discs are traded among a plurality of members who are registered in a common community. Each member has an account including a trading credit balance and a mailing address. A user interface is provided that allows a member to enter articles that the member owns and is willing to trade and articles that the member wants to own. The user interface also receives article trading instruction messages. An administration computer hosts the plurality of members and facilitates article trades among the members. The administration computer identifies matches between owned and wanted articles. For each identified match, an article trading instruction message is sent to the article owner requesting that the article owner mail the owned article to the mailing address of the member who wants to own the article.

  • Publication number: 20070181595
Abstract: The invention is for use with a plural component sequential metering system. In the method of the invention, after a selected number of doses have been dispensed, the system stops and calculates how many of those doses have fallen within a predetermined tolerance of the desired ratio between the two materials. If too many doses fall outside the tolerance, the dose size is decreased. This process is repeated until the appropriate number of doses fall within the desired tolerance.

  • Publication number: 20070086352
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of monitoring multimedia stream exchange session initialization messages transmitted in packet mode via a monitoring server over a network between a sender terminal and one or more receiver terminals. Said method comprises a step (50) of estimating a bit rate value for at least one initialization packet received by the monitoring server, a step (52) of comparing said value to a maximum authorized bit rate value, and a step (40) of authorizing transmission of the initialization packet only if the bit rate value for said packet does not exceed the maximum authorized bit rate value. The estimated bit rate value is optionally an average value that is measured over a sliding time window. The invention also relates to a server and an installation for carrying out the method of the invention.

  • Patent number: 7174551
Abstract: A multiple task wait system and associated method allow a client application to wait for multiple tasks to be successfully or conditionally implemented before running subsequent tasks. Two mechanisms can be used to accomplish this multiple wait process: The first mechanism uses a multi-wait grouping process that is visible to the client, and the second mechanism uses a graphical representation to identify the tasks to be completed. The multi-wait grouping process allows a client to group a related set of tasks together for both control and documentation purposes. The client can add as many tasks as the resources of the computer allow to a group while defining the data flows and control flows between the tasks in the group using various graphical tools. The multi-wait system allows the client to define the constraints and conditions for a set of tasks to be considered complete, and further allows the system to define the constraints and conditions for considering all the tasks within the group to be completed.

  • Publication number: 20070026945
Abstract: A game console and a multipurpose computer connected over a network may share information regarding their available resources and capabilities. These resources and capabilities may then be shared between the multipurpose computer and the game console. For example, the game console may leverage some of the processing power and spare storage on the multipurpose computer in order to enhance game play on the game console. Moreover, it may also be possible to control aspects of the game console from the multipurpose computer, thereby allowing a single game to be played simultaneously by both a user at the game console and a user at a multipurpose computer.
