  • Publication number: 20210329458
Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, obtaining a preliminary transmission received from a first wireless access terminal of a wireless network, at a mobile terminal, wherein the obtaining of the preliminary transmission occurs before a successful completion of an attachment process between the mobile terminal and the first wireless access terminal, and wherein access to a network resource by the mobile terminal via the wireless network requires a successful completion of the attachment process. A physical relationship is determined between the mobile terminal and the first wireless access terminal according to the preliminary transmission, resulting in a determined physical relationship. The determined physical relationship is compared to a predetermined threshold value to obtain a comparison result and successful completion of the attachment process is prevented based on the comparison result indicating a suspect condition. Other embodiments are disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20210112860
Abstract: The present invention provides a conductive substrate useful for Joule heating, such as in an electronic smoking article. Particularly, the invention provides a resistive heating element formed of a conductive substrate. The conductive substrate comprises an electrically conductive material and a carbonaceous additive, such as a binder material. The conductive substrate is carbonized in that it is subjected to calcining conditions to effectively reduce the carbonaceous additive to its carbon skeleton. It has been found that such carbonized substrate has surprisingly improved resistance properties in relation a substrate of the same formulation that is not carbonized. The carbonized substrate can include an aerosol precursor material. The formed resistive heating element can be included in an electronic smoking article to simultaneously provide resistive heating and aerosol formation with a single, unitary component.

  • Patent number: 10820244
Abstract: Traffic associated with user equipment that are coupled to a first radio access network is steered to a second radio access network based on an adaptable signal strength criterion. The signal strength criterion is related to real-time network load conditions of the first radio access network and can be broadcasted from a serving access point to the user equipment. Moreover, the signal strength criterion facilitates steering, to the second radio network, traffic associated with user equipment that are located closer to a cell edge of the first radio access network before steering traffic associated with user equipment are located further away from the cell edge. In addition, based on the network congestion within the first radio access network, the signal strength criterion is modified to adjust the number of user equipment that are steered to the second radio network.

  • Patent number: 10791489
Abstract: Traffic associated with user equipment that are served by a first radio access network is steered to a second radio access network based on a cell user occupancy criterion. Cell user occupancy data that represents a maximum number of devices served by an access point is determined based on a type of the access point, e.g., macro access point, femto access point, WiFi access point, etc. Further, based on the cell user occupancy data, a normalized index value is generated that is relative to different cell types/capacities. The cell user occupancy data is then transmitted to one or more neighboring access points that can utilize the cell user occupancy data to facilitate traffic steering, load balancing, and/or neighbor relationship management.

  • Patent number: 10772023
Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, detecting a triggering event based on a monitoring of utilization of a target cell within a cellular network system. A configuration policy including a handover configuration parameter set is determined, responsive to the triggering event. A target cell of a plurality of neighboring cells of the source cell is identified and a handover procedure of a user equipment from the source cell to the target cell is configured based on the handover configuration parameter set. The source cell provides the handover configuration parameter set to the user equipment connected to the source cell. The user equipment, while connected to the source cell, performs handover measurements from the source cell to the target cell based on the handover configuration parameter set, and a handover of the user equipment from the source cell to the target cell is based on the handover measurements. Other embodiments are disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20200253628
Abstract: Systems and methods discussed herein relate to surgical systems including tissue resecting devices where the handset has a disposable portion detachably coupled to a reusable portion. The reusable portion may be a housing where a motor and electronics are stored that may be used to drive a shaft inserted into the disposable portion. The shaft may be coupled to a fluid pathway through the disposable portion that is fluidly isolated from the reusable section. After use, the disposable section is detached from the reusable section and disposed, and the reusable section may be cleaned and sterilized, or may be cleaned only.

  • Publication number: 20200137728
Abstract: A more efficient network can be achieved using channel allocation strategies within a wireless network. A network device can receive several data points from a mobile device including resource request data, access condition data, and location data. Once the network device has received the aforementioned data points, the network device can identify channels that are conducive to a heightened quality of service for a resource being requested based on a signal attenuation associated with the channel. The network device can then facilitate a channel selection in response to an assessment of the data points and identifying a channel for the resource.

  • Patent number: 10597987
Abstract: A technique facilitates formation of perforations into a formation surrounding a borehole in a manner which enhances fluid flow along the perforations. The technique comprises providing a plurality of perforating charges which may be detonated in the borehole to create perforations. The detonation is used to initiate a time delay device for controlling a subsequent detonation of a corresponding charge. The corresponding charge is used to create a pressure underbalance in the borehole. This relatively lower pressure in the borehole is selectively established to create a reverse flow through the perforations which cleans the perforations.

  • Patent number: 10588063
Abstract: Traffic associated with user equipment that are served by a first radio access network is steered to a second radio access network based on a rate of congestion criterion. Network load is monitored by an access point to determine rate of congestion data associated with the access point. As an example, the rate of congestion represents a change in network load of the access point over a defined time period. The rate of congestion data is then transmitted to one or more neighboring access points that can utilize the rate of congestion data to facilitate traffic steering, load balancing, and/or neighbor relationship management.
