  • Publication number: 20020030163
Abstract: An infrared imaging device combines two sensors, each sensor sensitive to a different spectral range of infrared radiation. Both sensors are combined in a single camera sharing one of three common optical apertures, thus parallax is eliminated between the sensors. Further, a display device is aligned along an optical axis in common with the camera eliminating parallax between the display and camera. Images from the first sensor, the second sensor, or both sensors may be viewed optically and/or electronically. The device is handheld, or mountable on a headgear such as a helmet. When mounted on headgear, the display is viewable by directing the operator's gaze upward, thus the display does not interfere with an operator's straight and downward sight. The image can be sent to a remote display by a wireless transceiver, and waterproof, fireproof, vibration/impact resistance, and hot/cold weather resistance are achieved using a high strength plastic enclosure with foam insert.

  • Patent number: 6169379
Abstract: An obstruction detection apparatus is provided for use in closing a power driven vent, such as a window, that is located in an opening. When the vent includes a first closing edge that moves as the vent is closed and the opening includes a second closing edge that is contacted by the first closing edge when the vent is in a fully closed position, the apparatus includes a detector configured to detect an obstruction at points all along the second closing edge without requiring contact between the obstruction and the vent and to deliver a detection signal when an obstruction is detected. A controller is connected to the detector for receiving the detection signal and delivering a corresponding alarm signal.

  • Patent number: 5636373
Abstract: An external time source is connected to a partitioned data processing system, having host processors controlled by a host hypervisor, and having operating systems in the partitions. The host processors each have a timer facility comprising a time-of-day (TOD) clock, and a clock comparator. When the hypervisor detects a need for synchronization between the external time source and a host timer facility, it insulates the operating system in the partition on that host from host synchronization, and synchronizes the host timer facility with the external time source. Subsequently, the operating system is placed into normal execution, with an adjustment value used for timer facility references, and with a synchronization interrupt pending if the operating system is aware of the external time source.

  • Patent number: 4927485
Abstract: A laser end point detector incorporating adjustable-focus, variable-orientation detection optics for monitoring different types of structures such as laser-transparent thin films, isolated trenches or holes and patterned arrays of trenches or holes is disclosed. A collector lens package comprising a laser and a focusing lens are mounted in a hole in a collector lens which is pivotally mounted for selectively focusing zero, first and higher orders of diffractions reflected from the wafer onto an associated detector to monitor the etching of different types of structures. For example, zero order diffraction signals are used to monitor the etching of large target areas in transparent thin films or of non-patterned trenches or holes. First order (or higher) diffraction signals are used for monitoring the etching of patterned features which effect a two-dimensional diffraction grating, such as the capacitor holes in dynamic random access memories.

  • Patent number: 4819167
Abstract: A system and method for determining the precise location of a moving object such as a semiconductor wafer relative to a destination position, using an array of optical sensors positioned along an axis generally transverse to the path of movement of the wafer. The sensor trigger points along the path of movement are used to calculate the center position of the wafer relative to the destination position.
